[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

Tidal Locking?

 constantly facing another object

The Stories (28:71-73)

28:71

Ask ˹them, O  Prophet˺, “Imagine if Allah were to make the night perpetual for you until the Day of Judgment, which god other than Allah could bring you sunlight? Will you not then listen?”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you light? Then will you not hear?"

— Saheeh International

Say: Have ye thought, if Allah made night everlasting for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is a god beside Allah who could bring you light? Will ye not then hear?

— M. Pickthall

28:72

Ask ˹them also˺, “Imagine if Allah were to make the day perpetual for you until the Day of Judgment, which god other than Allah could bring you night to rest in? Will you not then see?”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Say, "Have you considered: if Allāh should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allāh could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?"

— Saheeh International

Say: Have ye thought, if Allah made day everlasting for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is a god beside Allah who could bring you night wherein ye rest? Will ye not then see?

— M. Pickthall

28:73

It is out of His mercy that He has made for you the day and night so that you may rest ˹in the latter˺ and seek His bounty ˹in the former˺, and perhaps you will be grateful.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.

— Saheeh International

Of His mercy hath He appointed for you night and day, that therein ye may rest, and that ye may seek His bounty, and that haply ye may be thankful.

— M. Pickthall

Tidal locking is the term used to describe when an object constantly faces another object, such that it never shows its back side, for example the moon is tidally locked to the Earth, thus we always see the same side of the moon.

The good thing is that the Earth is not tidally locked to the Sun, otherwise one side of the Earth would constantly face the Sun, while the other side would remain constantly dark. It is a mercy that Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ has appointed both day and night for us, all over Earth. Even the six-month long polar day yields into the six-month long polar night, so that all areas of the Earth can benefit from both day and night.

Noteworthy is the word used for sunlight (diya (ضِيَآءٍ)). Another ayat of The Quran informs us that the Sun has been appointed a diya (Q10:5). So, the visible light that we can see is the light of the Sun. When the Sun is above the horizon, it is daytime. When the Sun sets, from dusk till dawn, it is nighttime.

Daytime generally is the time for social activities, while nighttime is generally reserved for rest and tranquility. This phenomenon is observed all over Earth. People generally go out during the day for work, while they return home to rest when it is nighttime.

The Quran describes the making of the night and the day as a Mercy from Allah

Night is for rest and tranquility (لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ), and is the time to seek seek from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's fadhal (لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِ). Believers are advised to add an extra prayer, during part of the night, to recite The Quran, as that is a time of silence and solitude. When a believer recites while paying attention to the words being recited, it is hoped that the believer will then act according to the guidance in The Quran, and thus become successful in the tests Allah puts him through. The Quran is a Mercy from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ to help us return to a glorious hereafter in the gardens of eternity.

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's fadhal (فَضْلِهِ) is of two kinds: religious and material, as mentioned in Surah alJumu'ah (Q62:4 and Q62:10).

Day is the time for you to seek from Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's fadhal (لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِ) and perhaps, you are thankful (وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ). Being thankful is made evident when believers do acts of gratitude.

Surah alInsaan (The Human) informs us that we have been granted hearing and sight to test us:

The Man Human (76:1-3)

76:1

Is there not a period of time when each human is nothing yet worth mentioning?

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned?

— Saheeh International

Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered?

— M. Pickthall

76:2

˹For˺ indeed, We ˹alone˺ created humans from a drop of mixed fluids, ˹in order˺ to test them, so We made them hear and see.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.

— Saheeh International

Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing.

— M. Pickthall

76:3

We already showed them the Way, whether they ˹choose to˺ be grateful or ungrateful.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful.

— Saheeh International

Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving.

— M. Pickthall

While we can debate what the first ayat means, as can be seen from the three different translations, and the reading with or without the parenthesis, the second ayat is absolutely clear: we are indeed made from a sperm drop, and we indeed develop hearing and vision while still in the womb.

We have been granted internal and external guidance, so when we enter this world, till when we exit this world, we are amply provided with opportunities to be grateful, and utilise the life given to us to do acts of gratitude, seeking the Face of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ .

And so, when The Quran is speaking about perpetual night, or perpetual day, lasting till the Day of Qiyamah, it questions:

28:71

... Will you not then listen?”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

... Then will you not hear?"

— Saheeh International

... Will ye not then hear?

— M. Pickthall

28:72

... Will you not then see?”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

... Then will you not see?"

— Saheeh International

... Will ye not then see?

— M. Pickthall

Time: Before and Beyond

Allah existed before He created the skies and earth. He created them in six days. So, the concept of days existed before the creation of space-time. The day Allah created skies and earth, He decreed twelve months in a year in His Book. So, the concept of months and years is something specific to the creation of skies and earth. The time we experience is an intrinsic property of the spacetime we are in. Moreover, there is the concept of dunya (here, now, near) and the akhirah (there, then, latter or last).

This study peruses a selection of mentions of the word day(s), collected under the titles: Before, Beyond, and In-Between Before & Beyond.

Nightfall

The Quran commands that fasting should be observed from break of dawn till nightfall.

This Hadith of Prophet Muhammad  inspires me to try to understand the concept of night from The Quran:

Narrated Ibn Abi `Aufa: We were in the company of Allah's Messenger () on a journey. He said to a man, "Get down and mix Sawiq (powdered barley) with water for me." The man said, "The sun (has not set yet), O Allah's Messenger ()." The Prophet () again said to him, "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me." The man again said, "O Allah's Messenger ()! The sun!" The Prophet () said to him (for the third time) "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me." The man dismounted and mixed Sawiq with water for him. The Prophet () drank it and then beckoned with his hand (towards the East) and said, "When you see the night falling from this side, then a fasting person should break his fast."

Sahih al-Bukhari 1941

The instruction is to check when night falls in the Eastern horizon.

The following is a photo of the Eastern horizon, taken twenty minutes before sunset:

Eastern Horizon, Canada, July 28, 2024, 9:18 pm

When the day is withdrawn, they are left in darkness:

And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it the [light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.

Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:

The word 'asShams' meaning The Sun is mentioned in the Arabic text.
The Urdu translator has mistranslated it to 'suraj ki roshni' (the light of the sun) causing an unnecessary confusion regarding twilight.

The Calculation & The Estimation of Time

 ...

He causes the dawn to break, and has made the night for rest and ˹made˺ the sun and the moon ˹to travel˺ with precision. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing.

[Al-Quran 6:96, Translation: Dr Mustafa Khattab]

Allah causes the dawn to break, indicated by the white thread of day distinct from the black thread of night, even though its very dark, and those not observing the eastern horizon wouldn't know for a while that morning has already commenced.

Indeed your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then established Himself on the Throne. He makes the day and night overlap in rapid succession. He created the sun, the moon, and the stars—all subjected by His command. The creation and the command belong to Him ˹alone˺. Blessed is Allah—Lord of all worlds!

[Al-Quran 7:54, Translation: Dr Mustafa Khattab]

The precision with which night and day overlap and follow each other has enabled humans to calculate time with precision, in advance, for the whole year.

Surely in the alternation of the day and the night, and in all that Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are truly signs for those mindful ˹of Him˺.

[Al-Quran 10:6, Translation: Dr Mustafa Khattab]

Isn't it amazing how punctual the night and day are, each overlapping and overtaking the other with such precision, without a moment's delay, that we can sync our clocks with it.

Why is it important to understand the Quranic facts about natural phenomenon which help clarify our concepts and calculations of time? Prayer times depend on observation of natural phenomena. Moreover, in the future, we have been informed that time will dilate. A day will be equal to a year. Will we pray only five times that year, that is once every two months? According to this excerpt, full Hadith quoted below, attributed to Prophet Muhammad  , when the Companions رَّضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ heard about it, they asked about the prayers. They were instructed to estimate and maintain the prayers:

We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how long will he stay on earth?' He said: 'Forty days, one day like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of his days like your days.' We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, on that day which is like a year, will the prayers of one day suffice us?' He said: 'Make an estimate of time (and then observe prayer).'

[Excerpt from Sunan Ibn Majah 4075]

How then do we estimate the time of prayers? Presently, we calculate the time of the obligatory five prayers according to the break of dawn (fajr), the beginning of the decline of the sun immediately after it has passed overhead (zuhr), when the shadow of an object equals its height or is twice as long (asr), sunset (magrib) and when the night completely covers the red, or even the white twilight (isha).

So, how do we then estimate the time of prayers, when the size of a day increases from the present twenty-four hour day, three hundred and sixty-five days in a solar year, that we are used to? Are there any examples?

Our polar regions experience a day and night equalling one year. That is, half the year the Sun is rising and slowly spiralling up towards its highest point in the sky, and then spirals down back towards the horizon, to eventually disappear below the horizon at the equinox, for six months, till the next equinox. When it is night at the North Pole, it is daytime at the South Pole, and when it is night at the South Pole, it is daytime at the North Pole.

Muslims living in or near the polar regions thus have been contemplating, calculating and estimating prayer times. For example:

Moreover, some of the People of the Book, i.e. Jews and Christians, also live north of the Arctic Circle.

Night (لَيْلاً) and Day (نَهَاراً)

Creation & Resurrection  (DRAFT)

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

[Genesis 1 1-8, Translation: NIV]

In the Bible, at the beginning, on the first day, when Allah  began creating the skies and earth, there was darkness (الظُّلْمَةُ ) over the surface of the water on the Earth. Allah ﷻ commanded there to be a special kind of light called Nur (نُورٌ). We miss this in translations. Allah ﷻ named the Nur day (نَهَاراً), and He  named the darkness night (لَيْلاً). And that was the evening (مَسَاءٌ) and morning (صَبَاحٌ): the first day (الْيَوْمَ ). And He  continues the process of creation for six evenings and six mornings: the six days of creation.

Then, according to The Quran, He ﷻ ascends His Throne, decrees His Laws, and starts governing His creation.

The Jews and the Muslims count their days from sunset to sunset. That is the evening precedes the morning.

We tend to confuse the light (نُورٌ) of the day (نَهَاراً) with the light of the Sun (ضِيَآءً), even though the greater and lesser lights / luminaries (Sun and Moon) were created on the fourth day of creation, to distinguish between the night and day, and to make calculations for time and for seasons. The Arabic translation of the Bible uses the word (أَنْوَارٌ) for these two lights. However, The Quran states that the Sun has been appointed as a (ضِيَآءً), and the moon as a (نُوۡرًا).

The Quran also states that the sign of the night has been erased, or obscured. As studied in a previous post, if the moon is observed in its gamma radiation, it turns out to be the brightest object in the sky.

...

So, the definition of night (لَيْلاً) is darkness. Also, night is characterised by the absence of the nur ( نُورٌ) of the day.

In the Quran, Allah ﷻ is described as the Nur (Q24:35) of the skies and earth. To whom He ﷻ gives Nur, gets Nur, and from whom He ﷻ withholds Nur, no one else besides Him can provide Nur to that person (Q24:40).

Regarding resurrection, the Earth is described as such:

No just estimate have they made of Allah, such as is due to Him: On the Day of Judgment the whole of the earth will be but His handful, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand: Glory to Him! High is He above the Partners they attribute to Him!

The Trumpet will (just) be sounded, when all that are in the heavens and on earth will swoon, except such as it will please Allah (to exempt). Then will a second one be sounded, when, behold, they will be standing and looking on! And the Earth will shine with the Glory of its Lord: the Record (of Deeds) will be placed (open); the prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward and a just decision pronounced between them; and they will not be wronged (in the least). And to every soul will be paid in full (the fruit) of its Deeds; and (Allah) knoweth best all that they do.

[Al-Quran 39:67-70, Translation: A. Yusuf Ali]

Surah al-Zalzalah describes the Earth thus:

When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake And the earth discharges its burdens And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" - That Day, it will report its news

Because your Lord has inspired [i.e., commanded] it. That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds. So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

[Al-Quran 99:1-8, Translation: Saheeh International]

Surah al-Zumar mentions the day and night, and follows it by describing our creation:

He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.

He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses. That is Allāh, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?

[Al-Quran 39:5-6, Translation: Saheeh International]

The baby in the womb grows within three layers of darkness. The evening and morning twilight are also three zones or shades of darkness and light, overlapping and giving way to the successive shade, depending on whether it is dusk or dawn:

Gathering of the Night and its Darkness

Yahya related to me from Malik that Da'ud ibn al-Husayn said that someone had told him Abdullah ibn Abbas used to say, "Duluk ash-shams begins from when the sun passes the meridian. Ghasaq al-layl is the gathering of the night and its darkness."

When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allāh has not granted light - for him there is no light.

[Al-Quran 24:40, Translation: Saheeh International]

According to Wikipedia [copied on April 19, 2024]:

The deep sea is broadly defined as the ocean depth where light begins to fade, at an approximate depth of 200 m (660 ft) or the point of transition from continental shelves to continental slopes. Conditions within the deep sea are a combination of low temperatures, darkness, and high pressure. ..

Thanks to Allah that when He was creating the Earth, the first thing He did was bless it with Light فَصَارَ نُورٌ), at a time when even the surface of the waters were in darkness:

Gamma Rays, Visible Light & The Electromagnetic Spectrum

Say, "He (is) Allah, the One.

[Al-Quran 112]

Abstract
Exploring the erased sign of the night according to the ayaat of The Quran and recent scientific discoveries.

Full Text

And We have made the night and the day (as) two signs. Then We erased (the) sign (of) the night, and We made (the) sign (of) the day visible, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know (the) number (of) the years, and the account. And every thing - We have explained it (in) detail.
[Al-Quran 17:12]

The alternation of the day and night make it easy to keep count of passing time. The Sun and the Moon are used to calculate time of the day, number of months and the years. A variety of calculation systems have been employed over the ages, yet they all are based on the Sun and/or the Moon.

In Surah Fussilat (Explained in Detail), it is stated:

And of His Signs (are) the night and the day and the sun and the moon. (Do) not prostrate to the sun and not to the moon, but prostrate to Allah the One Who created them, if you, Him alone, worship.
[Al-Quran 41:37]

The sun and the moon have been deified in many mythologies and worshipped by many people. In Surah Yunus, the reason given for the sign of the night and the day and their signs, in Q17:12, is again repeated, mentioning the sun and moon explicitly in this ayat, while reiterating the fact that Allah  ﷻ created them:

He (is) the One Who made the sun a ضِيَاءً, and the moon a نُورًا and determined for it phases, that you may know (the) number (of) the years and the count (of time). Not created Allah that except in truth. He explains the Signs for a people (who) know.
[Al-Quran 10:5; Translation edited to retain Arabic terms]

The moon is described as a nur (نُورًا), and Surah anNur informs us that Allah  ﷻ is نُورُ of the السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

Allah (is the) نُورُ (of) the heavens and the earth. (The) example (of) His نُورِ (is) like a niche in it (is) a lamp; the lamp (is) in a glass, the glass as if it were a planet brilliant (which) is lit from a tree blessed - an olive, not (of the) east and not (of the) west, would almost its oil glow, even if not touched it fire. نُّورٌ upon نُورٍ. Allah guides to His نُورِ whom He wills. And Allah sets forth the examples for the mankind. And Allah of every thing (is) All-Knower.
[Al-Quran 24:35; Translation edited]

In Surah arRa`d, we read:

He (is) the One Who shows you the lightning, a fear and a hope and brings up the heavy clouds.
And glorifies the thunder [with] and the Angels for fear of Him. And He sends the thunderbolts and strikes with it whom He wills, yet they dispute about Allah. And He (is) Mighty (in) Strength.
[Al-Quran 13:12-13]

When Moses (Musa عليه السلام)  desired to see Allah  ﷻ

And when Musa came to Our appointed place and spoke to him his Lord, he said, "O my Lord! Show me (that) I may look at You." He said, "Never you (can) see Me, but look at the mountain [then] if it remains in its place then you will see Me." But when revealed (His) Glory his Lord to the mountain, He made it crumbled to dust and Musa fell down unconscious. And when he recovered he said, "Glory be to You! I turn (in repentance) to you, and I am (the) first (of) the believers."
[Al-Quran 7:143]

When the Bani Israel demanded to see Allah  ﷻ

And when you said, "O Musa! Never (will) we believe in you until we see Allah manifestly." So seized you the thunderbolt while you (were) looking.
Then We revived you from after your death, so that you may (be) grateful.
[Al-Quran 2:55-56]

The Day when Allah  ﷻ comes:

Are they waiting [except] that comes to them Allah in (the) shadows of [the] clouds, and the Angels, and is decreed the matter? And to Allah return (all) the matters.
[Al-Quran 2:210]

On the Day of Judgement:

And (will) shine the earth with (the) نُورِ (of) its Lord and (will) be placed the Record and (will) be brought the Prophets and the witnesses, and it (will) be judged between them in truth, and they will not be wronged.
[Al-Quran 39:69, Translation edited]

Putting together the knowledge provided in the eleven ayaat quoted above with what science has so far discovered:

The Quran uses this root six times, and is variously understood as light that shines, illuminates, flashes or glows. The sun, when above the horizon, is the brightest object in the sky. It emits the visible light humans use to see, as well as other shorter and longer wavelengths of light. The visible light is a very narrow band of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The Quran uses the word نُور several times, and is variously translated as light which is reflected, lustrous, beautiful, enlightening. The root of this word is shared by the word نَارًا which means fire. We know that fire is produced in a process where heat energy is also generated along with the light.

The moon is visible to humans, most nights of the month, through the sunlight it reflects. It waxes and wanes, and the phases of the moon are used by many calendar systems.

A full moon is the brightest object in the night sky. The Quran also informs us that Allah  ﷻ has made the moon a nur (جَعَلَ ... However, Q17:12 informs us that the sign of the night has been erased or blotted out, that is made invisible to us. As mentioned above, the visible light is only a narrow band of the electromagnetic spectrum. When the moon is viewed in other wavelengths, it is a wonderful spectacle. Especially,  in gamma rays of greater than 20 MeV, the moon is the brightest object in the sky, outshining everything else, while the sun cannot usually be even seen at these energies:

The Moon is not the only source of high energy gamma ray emissions. There are other regions of the earth and sky emitting gamma rays as well. An intense celestial Gamma Ray Burst from within our own galaxy has also been recorded a day after the Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004...

Terrestrial gamma ray flashes have energies up to 20 MeV (million electron volts). Gamma Rays are also known to be emitted by lightning discharges, in the range of 10-20 MeV. It has been estimated that several hundred terrestrial gamma ray flashes occur daily.

Gamma Ray Bursts are flashes of gamma rays. They are the most energetic and most luminous form of light in the Universe. Very-high energy gamma radiation, having photon energies from 100GeV to 100 TeV have been detected in emissions from astronomical sources. Scientists theorise the existence of Ultra-high energy gamma rays with photon energies higher than 100 TeV, however these have not been detected yet.

Moreover, there is a diffuse Cosmic Gamma Ray Background Radiation all around, such that, it is said that if we had gamma vision, there would be no dark place anywhere. The source of this radiation remains unidentified.

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

But nay! I swear by what you see,
And what not you see,
Indeed, it (is) surely (the) Word (of) a Messenger noble.
[Al-Quran 69:38-40]

The Quran is indeed a message from the Almighty Allah  ﷻ , who has sent His messengers with guidance. Gamma rays occupy the shortest wavelength, and thus the highest photon energy, in the Electromagnetic Spectrum. We humans can see a very narrow band of the Electromagnetic Spectrum, which is the Visible Light:

And then, we know nothing yet about the dark energy and dark matter, which scientists believe constitutes most of our Universe.

Allah (is the) Creator (of) all things, and He (is) over all things a Guardian.

For Him (are the) keys (of) the heavens and the earth. And those who disbelieve in (the) Verses (of) Allah, those - they (are) the losers.

Say, "Is (it) other than Allah you order me (to) worship, O ignorant ones?"

And verily, it has been revealed to you and to those who (were) before you, if you associate (with Allah) surely, will become worthless your deeds and you will surely be among the losers.

Nay! But worship Allah and be among the thankful ones.

And not they appraised Allah (with) true appraisal, while the earth entirely (will be) in His Grip (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection, and the heavens (will be) folded in His Right Hand. Glory be to Him! And High is He above what they associate (with Him).

And (will) be blown [in] the trumpet, then (will) fall dead whoever (is) in the heavens and whoever (is) on the earth except whom Allah wills. Then (it will) be blown [in it] a second time, and behold! They (will be) standing waiting.

And (will) shine the earth with (the) light نُورِ (of) its Lord and (will) be placed the Record and (will) be brought the Prophets and the witnesses, and it (will) be judged between them in truth, and they will not be wronged.

And (will) be paid in full every soul what it did; and He (is the) Best-Knower of what they do.

And (will) be driven those who disbelieve to Hell (in) groups until when they reach it, (will) be opened its gates and (will) say to them its keepers, "Did not come to you Messengers from you reciting to you (the) Verses (of) your Lord and warning you (of the) meeting (of) your Day this?" They (will) say, "Yes!" But has been justified (the) word (of) punishment against the disbelievers.

It will be said, "Enter (the) gates (of) Hell (to) abide eternally therein, and wretched is (the) abode (of) the arrogant."

And (will) be driven those who feared their Lord, to Paradise (in) groups until when they reach it and (will) be opened its gates and (will) say to them its keepers, "Peace be upon you, you have done well, so enter it (to) abide eternally."

And they will say, "All praise (be) to Allah, Who has fulfilled for us His promise and has made us inherit the earth, we may settle [from] (in) Paradise wherever we wish. So excellent (is the) reward (of) the workers."

And you will see the Angels surrounding [from] around the Throne glorifying (the) praise (of) their Lord. And (will) be judged between them in truth, and it will be said, "All praise be to Allah, (the) Lord (of) the worlds."
