[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

Salaam, The Significance of the Spoken Word!

Say, "He (is) Allah, the One.
Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute.
Not He begets and not He is begotten.
And not is for Him equivalent any [one]."
[Al-Quran 112]

... Allah eliminates falsehood and establishes truth with His Words... [Al-Quran 42:24]

Abstract
One of the names of Allah is As-Salaam. The promise of The Gardens of Eternity includes the guarantee of absolute peace! Submission to Allah's Laws and Commands is essential for a person to be eligible for Allah's Salaam

Sound can be used to communicate and sound can be used to create. As science advances, humans are increasingly able to manipulate systems through commands.

Surah an-Nur's first ayat states that the surah is obligatory (fard). Twice do we find the command to invoke salaam: on others and our own nafs! Salaam is something we need to practice in this life, in word and in deeds, if we desire to flourish and be pure.

Also, a brief list of some of the guidance in The Quran regarding proper use of speech.

"Peace." A word from a Lord Most Merciful.
[Al-Quran 36:58]

Upon resurrection, the people of The Gardens will dwell in everlasting peace because it will be a word spoken by Allah, their Continuously Merciful Sustainer! Allah means what He says, and He keeps His Word. That day, Allah will permanently separate the criminals and contain them in Hell, thus eliminating crime, and ushering in permanent peace.

The House of As-Salaam

O People (of) the Book! Surely has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. Surely has come to you from Allah a light (Nur) and a clear Book
Guides with it Allah (those) who seek His pleasure (to the) ways (of) the peace, and brings them out from the darknessess to the light by His permission, and guides them to (the) straight way.
[Al-Quran 5:15-16; edited for clarity in italics in parenthesis ()]

One of the names of Allah is As-Salaam (Q59:23); we are continuously invited to the House of As-Salaam (Q6:127, Q10:25); and several ayaat inform us that for the people who enter The Garden there will be Salaam.

In This World
In this world, Allah's Salaam is on the chosen ones (Q27:59, [Q37:79, 109, 120, 130, 181], Q39:73). In the narratives about the Messengers of Allah, we find that they are eventually saved, and the Believers along with them, when the Divine Punishment befalls the criminals. So, being in Salaam means being in peace, safe from Allah's Punishment, and surrounded by Allah's Mercy! It does not mean that the people in salaam will not have to endure trials in this world, as the life of this world is meant to test those who say that they believe, and to generate the evidence for or against them. The Believers' hearts soften with the remembrance of Allah, while the defiantly disobedient, who are cursed, that is removed from Allah's Mercy, have their hearts hardened against the remembrance of Allah. Absolute Peace does not exist in this world as the good and the bad are all mixed up and each is granted the free-will to do as they will. However, the promise of The Gardens of Eternity includes the guarantee of absolute peace!

Salaam & Islam

Indeed, the religion near Allah (is) submission/Islam. And not differed those who were given the Book except from after [what] came to them [the] knowledge out of envy among them. And whoever disbelieves in (the) Verses (of) Allah, then indeed, Allah (is) swift (in taking) account.
[Al-Quran 3:19]

Indeed, We revealed the Taurat in it (was) Guidance and light (Nur); judged by it the Prophets, those who had submitted (to Allah) for those who were Jews, and the Rabbis, and the scholars, with what they were entrusted of (the) Book (of) Allah and they were to it witnesses. So (do) not fear the people but fear Me, and (do) not sell My Verses (for) a little price. And whoever (does) not judge by what Allah has revealed, then those [they] (are) the disbelievers.
[Al-Quran 5:44, Translation edited in italics in parenthesis]

Salaam and Islam share the same root word: س ل م . Submission to Allah's Laws and Commands is essential for a person to be eligible for Allah's Salaam:
[Al-Quran 9:36] ..., so (do) not wrong therein your nafs. And ...
[Al-Quran 12:40] ... He has commanded that you worship not except Him. ...
[Al-Quran 30:30] ... No change should there be in the creation of Allah ...

And not they were commanded except to worship Allah (being) sincere to Him (in) the religion, upright, and to establish the prayer, and to give the zakah And that (is the) religion the correct.
[Al-Quran 98:5

In the pilgrimage ayaat of Surah al-Baqarah, we find the statement:

O you who believe[d]! Enter in submission/Islam completelyand (do) not follow footsteps (of) the Shaitaan. Indeed, he (is) for you an enemy open.
[Al-Quran 2:208]

In The Hereafter
While in Surah Yasin we read: '"Peace." A word from a Lord Most Merciful.', in the next surah we read a conversation that will occur on the Day of Judgement. The people who were saved will exclaim:

And if not (for the) Grace (of) my Lord, certainly, I (would) have been among those brought.
Then are not we (to) die,
Except our death the first, and not we will be punished?"
Indeed, this surely (is) the attainment great.
For (the) like (of) this, let work the workers.
[Al-Quran 37:57-61]

In Allah's Mercy
In Surah ad-Dukhan, after the mention of the destruction of Qaum-e-Tubba, we read:

And not We created the heavens and the earth and whatever (is) between them (in) play.
Not We created both of them but in [the] truth, but most of them (do) not know.
Indeed, (the) Day of Judgment (is) an appointed term for the all.
(The) Day not will avail a relation for a relation anything and not they will be helped.
Except, (on) whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He [He] (is) the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.
[Al-Quran 44:38-42]

The Usage of Sound
The Quran informs us that when Allah intends a thing, He commands it to become, and it becomes:

Only His Command when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.
[Al-Quran 36:82]

Other examples about singular Allah creating through His Command: 2:117, 3:45, 3:47, 3:59, 19:35,
Examples where the plural We create through their command: 2:65, 16:40, 21:69,

Sound can be used to communicate and sound can be used to create. From the study of the physical and psychological effects of sound, scientist are discovering the creative and manipulative powers of sound on matter. Furthermore, in our age of computing technologies, we know that all programming is based on a series of commands. Biologically, we now know that even our bodies and all the systems within it are based on commands and communication between the constituent parts. Not just sound but the electromagnetic spectrum is being explored, used and abused. As science advances, humans are increasingly able to manipulate systems through commands.

Regarding the civilisations of the past, some of whose ruins still stand, researchers are increasingly coming up with theories regarding their advanced use of sound and electromagnetic technologies. Interestingly, in The Quran, we find the specific mention of David, the Khalifa-tul-Ard, using his sound to celebrate the perfection of Allah, and the birds and mountains along with him. Was he commanded to improve the quality of the vibrations in the atmosphere? We have also been ordered to do tasbih {سَبِّحْهُ (acknowledge the perfection of Allah [1] [2])} at fixed times of the day.

And We gave understanding of i (to) Sulaiman, and (to) each We gave judgment and knowledge. And We subjected with Dawud the mountains (to) glorify Our praises and the birds. And We were the Doers.

 [Al-Quran 21:79]

And certainly, We gave Dawood from Us Bounty. "O mountains! Repeat praises with him, and the birds." And We made pliable for him [the] iron,
 [Al-Quran 34:10]

Interestingly, The Quran narrates the appointment of Saul as King to lead the Bani Israel in battle against Goliath and his forces. Then Q2:251 mentions that in that battle David killed Goliath, and had not Allah repelled some people with others, they (the disbelievers) would have corrupt the Earth.

Allah is the best of Creators, and His creation is better:

The One Who made good every thing He created, and He began (the) creation (of) man from clay.
 [Al-Quran 32:7]

Thus, we find the explicit command to not make any changes in Allah's creation:

So set your face to the religion upright. Nature (made by) Allah (upon) which He has created mankind [on it]. No change (should there be) in the creation (of) Allah. That (is) the religion the correct, but most men (do) not know.
[Al-Quran 30:30; Typo corrected]

Curiously, Surah at-Taubah and Surah as-Saff both state that:

They want to extinguish Allah's light (Nur) with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His Light (Nur) even if the disbelievers dislike (it).
[Al-Quran 9:32; edited for clarity in italics in parenthesis

They intend to put out (the) light (Nur) (of) Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His Light (Nur) although dislike the disbelievers.
[Al-Quran 61:8; edited for clarity in italics in parenthesis]

In Surah ash-Shura, we learn that:

Or (do) they say, "He has invented about Allah a lie?" But if Allah willed He would seal [over] your heart.
And Allah eliminates the falsehood and establishes the truth by His Words.
Indeed, He (is) All-Knowing of what (is in) the breasts.
[Al-Quran 42:24]

The Importance of Salaam

O you who believe! (Do) not enter houses other (than) your houses until you have asked permission and you have greeted (invoked peace by saying salaam) [on] its inhabitants. That (is) best for you so that you may pay heed.
[Al-Quran 24:27; edited for clarity in italics in parenthesis ()]

Not is on the blind any blame and not on the lame any blame and not on the sick any blame and not on yourselves nafs that you eat from your houses or houses (of) your fathers or houses (of) your mothers or houses (of) your brothers or houses (of) your sisters or houses (of) your paternal uncles or houses (of) your paternal aunts or houses (of) your maternal uncles or houses (of) your maternal aunts or what you possess its keys or your friend. Not is on you any blame that you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses then greet (invoke salaam) [on] yourselves nafs a greeting from Allah blessed /flourishing (and) good /pure. Thus Allah makes clear for you the Verses so that you may understand.
[Al-Quran 24:61; edited for clarity in italics]

Surah an-Nur's first ayat states that the surah is obligatory (fard). Twice do we find the command to invoke salaam: on others and our own nafs! Salaam is something we need to practice in this life, in word and in deeds, if we desire to flourish and be pure.

Towards the conclusion of the salaat (contact prayers), after the prostrations, in the tashaddud (also known as at-tahiyaat, salaam is invoked:

Notice that right after sending salam on our dear Prophet, we also recite salam on ourselves:

We also conclude the salaat (contact prayers) with greetings of salaam towards our right and left:

We also generally greet each other with salaam or salaam alaikum, the full form of which is:

Speech, The Guidance for
We have been granted the power of speech. Along with being given the ability to speak, we are given guidance in The Quran, and in the sayings of our dear Prophet, on how to use this faculty. The above two are examples of the intentional, deliberate statements of invoking Allah's Salaam. The following is a brief list of ayat numbers, translations/notes of some of the guidance in The Quran regarding proper and responsible use of speech:

[Al-Quran 1:1]

1:1 In (the) name (of) Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
bismillah ... the importance of starting everything with Allah's name (Allah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem); stated 114 times in 113 surahs. The only exception is Surah at-Taubah which is a notice of war, from Allah and His Messenger, to the polytheists.
2:31 Allah taught Adam all the names
2:114 who can be more wicked than one who bars the mention of Allah's Name in the houses for His worship, and strives for their ruin

2:152 remember Me, I Will Remember you, and be grateful to Me, and do not be ungrateful

5:89 Allah will not take you to task for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will take you to task for the oaths which ye swear in earnest. The expiation thereof is the feeding of ten of the needy with the average of that wherewith ye feed your own folk, or the clothing of them, or the liberation of a slave, and for him who findeth not (the wherewithal to do so) then a three days' fast. This is the expiation of your oaths when ye have sworn; and keep your oaths. Thus Allah expoundeth unto you His revelations in order that ye may give thanks. [Translation: Pickthall]

17:110 whether you say Allah or Ar-Rahman, to Him belong the most beautiful names, ...

[Al-Quran 18:24]

18:23-24  And (do) not say of anything, "Indeed, I will do that tomorrow.", Except, "If Allah wills." And remember your Lord when you forget and say, "Perhaps [that] will guide me my Lord to a nearer (way) than this right way."

2:224 And (do) not make Allah's (name) an excuse in your oaths that you do good, and be righteous and make peace between [the] people. And Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (just before Talaq ayaat)
