[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

Those Who Forbid Corruption

So why not had been of the generations before you those possessing a remnant, forbidding from the corruption in the earth except a few of those We saved among them? But followed those who did wrong what luxury they were given therein, and they were criminals.

[Al-Quran 11:116]

The Rethink Genetic Engineering & Transhumanism in the Light of the Quran page begins with the above ayat.

Corruption is a major problem that accompanies human science and technology. It affects all areas of life, and enables basic changes in many areas of life. From the individual person, to the basic family unit, all across to the weather and climate, the world is now witnessing corruption.

We were warned to not make changes in the creation of Allah:

Our homes and our environment is being poisoned by our own species. While we may yet be able to find ways to contain or reverse the corruption on the planet, who will contain or reverse the change within ourselves. We have been warned against making changes in our nafs, as there will dire consequences:

...

Surah Ta Ha twice uses the term أُولِي النُّهَىٰ .. which I think should be translated as those who desist or forbid. The following was originally posted in Dams

(Pharaoh) said: "What then is the condition of previous generations?"
He replied: "The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets,-

"He Who has, made for you the earth like a carpet spread out; has enabled you to go about therein by roads (and channels); and has sent down water from the sky." With it have We produced diverse pairs of plants each separate from the others.

Eat (for yourselves) and pasture your cattle: verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding.
From the (earth) did We create you, and into it shall We return you, and from it shall We bring you out once again.

The People who Forbid (لِّأُولِي النُّهَىٰ
Q20:54 states that in it are signs for the لِّأُولِي النُّهَىٰ translated generally as people of reasoning, intellect, understanding, ... As can be seen from the translations of most words sharing the same root, the words lend to the meanings of forbid, desist, refrain, ...

Globally, there is a great debate over the construction of dams. Many people favour such projects in the hopes that it will solve the water and electricity shortages. There are a few who voice concern regarding the adverse ecological impact, the cost-effectiveness of mega-projects, and the potential of such massive bodies of water as weapons of mass destruction.

The Quran informs us that:
  • Allah has spread the Earth, made roads/channels, and sent down water from the sky (Q20:53)
  • Allah is the Sustainer of the Worlds (Q1:2)
  • We must not upset the Balance (Q55:7-9
  • The flood of the dam destroyed the ecology of the land (Q34:15-17

As Surah arRum puts it:

Corruption has appeared in the land and the sea on account of what the hands of men have wrought, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, so that they may return.
[Al-Quran 34:41, Translation: Shakir]

The Earth and the Gardens of Paradise are promised as an inheritance. We have this life to prove we are worthy of such a grand inheritance!

And certainly We wrote in the Book after the reminder that (as for) the land, My righteous servants shall inherit it.
[Al-Quran 21:105, Translation: Shakir]

As خَلَائِفَ فِي الْأَرْضِ, hasn't the Earth also been given to us in trust? Surah alMuminoon lists keeping the trusts as one of the qualities of those who will inherit Paradise:

And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant,
And those who keep a guard on their prayers;

These are they who are the heirs,

Who shall inherit the Paradise; they shall abide therein.
[Al-Quran 23:8-11, Translation: Shakir]

Injeel, Isa عليه السلام and the Ruh-ul-Quds

Q112

The Injeel mentioned in The Quran

He has sent down upon you, [O Muḥammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel

[Al-Quran 3:3, Translation: Saheeh International]

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ has sent down The Torah, The Injeel, and then The Quran confirming the previous two scriptures.

And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel

[Al-Quran 3:48, Translation: Saheeh International]

Maryam عليها السلام (Mary) was given glad tidings about her son Isa عليه السلام (Jesus).

O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Then will you not reason?

[Al-Quran 3:65, Translation: Saheeh International]

Ibrahim  عليه السلام (Abraham) is the common patriarch of Jews, Christians and Muslims. The Torah, The Injeel, and The Quran were revealed after him.

And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.

And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allāh has revealed therein. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient.

[Al-Quran 5:46-47, Translation: Saheeh International]

The Injeel was revealed to Isa عليه السلام (Jesus), the son of Maryam عليها السلام (Mary). The Injeel confirms The Torah which preceded it. The Torah contains the Deen, and the Shariah. The Injeel also contains its own Shariah, and so does The Quran.

And if only they had upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān], they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them are a moderate [i.e., acceptable] community, but many of them - evil is that which they do.

O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allāh will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.

Say, "O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān]." And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.

[Al-Quran 5:66-68, Translation: Saheeh International]

The followers of each Book must judge by what Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ has revealed in their Book. When the Jews upheld the divine law, they prospered. When the Muslims upheld the divine law, they prospered.

[The Day] when Allāh will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Pure Spirit [i.e., the angel Gabriel] and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind [from birth] and the leper with My permission; and when you brought forth the dead with My permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from [killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, "This is not but obvious magic."

[Al-Quran 5:110, Translation: Saheeh International]

Surah al-Maidah (The Table spread with Food) presents a scene from the future when Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ will recount the favours bestowed upon Isa عليه السلام (Jesus), the son of Maryam عليها السلام (Mary).

Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written [i.e., described] in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and prohibits them from what is wrong and makes lawful for them what is good and forbids them from what is evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.

[Al-Quran 7:157, Translation: Saheeh International]

The Quran informs us that the Ummi Messenger-Prophet is mentioned in both the previous scriptures. Q61:6 specifically mentions that they will find his name written as 'Ahmed', which is one of the names of Prophet Muhammad

As far as I know, the word 'Ahmed' has so far not been found in the four canonical gospels (according to Mark, Matthew, Luke and John). Some Muslim scholars think that the original Injeel may then be the Gospel of Barnabas, or the Gospel of Thomas.

Also, there is dispute between whether the Aramaic version (spoken in Judea-Galilee in Jesus' time) the original version, or whether the present Aramaic version is a translation of the Greek version.

And Allah knows best.

Indeed, Allāh has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allāh, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’ān. And who is truer to his covenant than Allāh? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.

[Al-Quran 9:111, Translation: Saheeh International]

Surah at-Taubah begins with the annulment of treaties, and a declaration of war, with four months' notice,  by Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ and His Messenger against the pagan State of Makkah. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's Messenger was the leader of the State of Medina. The purpose of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's Messengers is to establish Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's Deen over all religions (deens (legal systems)).

Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allāh and [His] pleasure. Their sign is in their faces from the effect of prostration [i.e., prayer]. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that He [i.e., Allāh] may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allāh has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

[Al-Quran 48:29, Translation: Saheeh International]

Surah al-Fath is about the victory that the Believers will achieve. It mentions the victory that Prophet Muhammad  was granted over the pagans of Makkah. It goes on to mention that the purpose of sending the Messengers is to establish Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's Deen. It announces that Prophet Muhammad  is 'Messenger of Allah', and then it describes those who support and help Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's Messengers.

Then We sent following their footsteps [i.e., traditions] Our messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allāh. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

[Al-Quran 57:27, Translation: Saheeh International]

Surah al-Hadeed (the iron) is about loaning Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ a beautiful loan, striving and spending in His (Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎) cause, and the imminent Victory (Fath) which is a foregone eventuality which must occur. Iron contains many benefits and great violence. Prophet-King Dawood عليه السلام (David) was taught how to make coats of mail (armour jackets) as a means of protection in battle. All Messengers followed the footsteps of Nuh عليه السلام (Noah) and Ibrahim عليه السلام (Abraham). Isa عليه السلام (Jesus) is a continuation of the same mission.

Isa عليه السلام (Jesus) mentioned in The Quran

And We did certainly give Moses the Scripture [i.e., the Torah] and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit [i.e., the angel Gabriel]. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed.

[Al-Quran 2:87, Translation: Saheeh International]

...

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allāh and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants [al-Asbāṭ]1 and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

[Al-Quran 2:136, Translation: Saheeh International]

Believers are required to believe in all the revelations Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ has revealed to all His prophets and messengers.

Those messengers - some of them We caused to exceed others. Among them were those to whom Allāh spoke, and He raised some of them in degree. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs, and We supported him with the Pure Spirit [i.e., Gabriel]. If Allāh had willed, those [generations] succeeding them would not have fought each other after the clear proofs had come to them. But they differed, and some of them believed and some of them disbelieved. And if Allāh had willed, they would not have fought each other, but Allāh does what He intends.

[Al-Quran 2:253, Translation: Saheeh International]

Where there is lawlessness, there is corruption. Right in the start, The Quran 2:11-12 mentions the corrupters and their ignorance of their corruption. They assume they are reformers. Q2:204-206 mentions the intentional corrupters who are bent upon destroying crops and progeny.

The purpose of creation of Adam عليه السلام was to be appointed as Khilafa of the Earth. This meant power and the potential to cause corruption. When Adam عليه السلام was sent to Earth after disobeying Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى , they were all told that some of them would be enemies to each other (Q2:36). Dawood عليه السلام (David) was also appointed Khalifa. Earlier, under Talut's kingship, Dawood عليه السلام (David) killed Jalut (Goliath), Q2:251. That, and the other subsequent wars that Dawood عليه السلام (David) fought were so that through them Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى would contain corruption. That was a Grace of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى upon humans. Similarly, in spite of clear proofs, people continue to differ and fight. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى allows the fighting as the intention is to eventually establish  Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى  's Deen over all other deens.

[And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allāh gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allāh].

He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."

She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is Allāh; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.

And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel

And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allāh. And I cure the blind [from birth] and the leper, and I give life to the dead - by permission of Allāh. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.

And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allāh and obey me.

Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path.'"

[Al-Quran 3:45-51, Translation: Saheeh International]

Maryam عليها السلام (Mary), the daughter of Imran, was given glad tidings about her son Isa عليه السلام (Jesus). From miraculous conception to performing miracles, Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ showed many signs through the Messiah, Isa عليه السلام (Jesus).

Surah Aal-e-Imran (The Family of Imran) recounts the dedication of Maryam عليها السلام (Mary) to Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ by her mother when she was still in her womb. When Maryam عليها السلام (Mary) was born, the mother was confounded as she had been blessed with a female child. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ graciously accepted the dedication, and grew the female child in purity. Then she received glad tidings about the son that was going to be created in her womb through Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's word.

Messiah, Isa عليه السلام (Jesus) was a Messenger to the Bani Israel.

Messiah, Isa عليه السلام (Jesus) performed many miracles, with the permission of Allah, as clear signs for the Bani Israel.

Surah Aael-e-Imran further informs us:

Ruh-ul-Quds mentioned in The Quran

Screenshot from corpus.quran.com

Three ayaat of The Quran mention that the Ruh-ul-Quds (رُوحِ الْقُدُسِ) was the support that helped Isa عليه السلام (Jesus) perform the miracles with Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ 's permission.  One ayat of The Quran mentions that The Quran was revealed by the Ruh-ul-Quds (رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ). From Q2:97 and Q26:193-194 we learn that it was Jibrael عليه السلام (Gabriel) (Q2:97) who revealed The Quran on the heart (Q26:194) of Muhammad . Jibrael عليه السلام (Gabriel) is also refereed to by the title Ruh-ul-Ameen (Q26:193).
