[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

The Nafs of The Insaan

Surah Ta Ha quotes Allah telling Moses that the Hour will definitely be established to recompense every Nafs:

14

14. Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

15. Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.

16. So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish

Surah az-Zumar states that the greatest loss in the Hereafter is the loss of the Nafs, and the family:

10

10. Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."

11. Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

12. And I have been commanded to be the first [among you] of the Muslims."

13. Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."

14. Say, "Allah [alone] do I worship, sincere to Him in my religion,

15. So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss."

16. They will have canopies of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allah threatens His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.

Surah Qaf informs us that whatever diminishes of us is being preserved, in a record, and the Earth will give up all of it when it’s time for us to be raised up. It also states that every word that the Nafs whispers is recorded. It then informs a scene from the resurrection day:

16

16. And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

17. When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left.

18. Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].

19. And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.

20. And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat.

21. And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness.

22. [It will be said], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp."

23. And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared."

24. [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever,

25. Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter,

26. Who made [as equal] with Allah another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment."

27. His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error."

28. [Allah] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the warning.

29. The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants."

Surah at-Tur ayat 21 states that every iMeri (امْرِئٍ) is in pledge, and Surah al-Muddasir ayat 38 states that every Nafs (نَفْسٍ) is in pledge:

21

21. And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained

38

38. Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

Surah at-Tariq informs us that each Nafs has protectors guarding it. It draws attention to what we have been created with, and then draws attention to the returning sky and the cracking Earth, stating that surely we will be raised up for reckoning. The Quran is the decisive Word …

4

4. There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

5. So let man observe from what he was created.

6. He was created from a fluid, ejected,

7. Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

8. Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able.

9. The Day when secrets will be put on trial,

10. Then man will have no power or any helper.

11. By the sky which returns [rain]

12. And [by] the earth which cracks open,

13. Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,

14. And it is not amusement

Surah al-Fajr states that the Nafs-e-Muttmainah will be allowed to enter Allah’s worshippers, and they will enter Allah’s Gardens in the Hereafter:

27

30

27. [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

28. Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

29. And enter among My [righteous] servants

30. And enter My Paradise.

Surah ash-Shams informs us that each Nafs has been given understanding of its good and its evil:

7

7. And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it

8. And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,

9. He has succeeded who purifies it,

10. And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]

Then, Surah ash-Shams ayat 11onwards narrates about the Thamud, and the consequence of their sinful disobedience.

Nine Groups corrupting the Earth

 DRAFT

Surah ash-Shu’ara, while narrating about the Thamud quotes Allah’s Messenger Saleh saying that:

150

150. So fear Allah and obey me.

151. And do not obey the order of the transgressors,

152. Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

Surah an-Naml narrates a bit about the Thamud: the nine groups in the city plotting to kill their Messenger of Allah:

And there had been nine groups of persons in the city who make corruption in the earth and make not things right.
[Al-Quran 27:48, Translation: Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar]

The surah continues with a brief mention of the destruction of the Samood.

The Thamud (ثَمُودُ) are mentioned in twenty-one surahs across The Quran,

When the People of the Book Wronged

The Quran informs us that our judgement is being delayed until a fixed time: [Q3:178,Q11:110Q14:42Q16:61Q18:58Q19:84Q20:129Q35:45]. Therefore, when the People of the Book defiantly disobeyed, they were not annihilated. However, they did suffer the consequence of defiant disobedience, and insights into the genomes of apes and pigs, and the fossil evidence from Ardi, are confirming what The Quran states. In The Torah, they are warned:

And any person who performs any work on that very day I will destroy that person from amidst its people.
[The Torah, Vayikra - Leviticus 23:30]

And indeed, you knew those who transgressed among you in the (matter of) Sabbath.
So We said to them, "Be apes, despised."
So We made it a deterrent punishment for those (in) front (of) them and those after them and an admonition for those who fear (Allah).
[Al-Quran 2:65 – 2:66

------------------------------

Say, "O People (of) the Book! Do you resent [of] us except that we believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what was revealed before, and that most of you (are) defiantly disobedient." Say, "Shall I inform you (of) worse than that (as) recompense from Allah?
Whom Allah has cursed and He became angry with him and made of them [the] apes and [the] swines, and (who) worshipped the false deities. Those (are) worse (in) position and farthest astray from (the) even way.
And when they come to you they say, "We believe." But certainly they entered with disbelief and they certainly went out with it. And Allah knows best [of] what they were hiding.
[Al-Quran 5:59 - 5:60 – 5:61

------------------------------

And when said a community among them, "Why (do) you preach a people, (whom) Allah (is going to) destroy them or punish them (with) a punishment severe?" They said, "To be absolved before your Lord and that they may become righteous." So when they forgot what they had been reminded with [it], We saved those who forbade [from] the evil, and We seized those who wronged with a punishment wretched, because they were defiantly disobeying.
So when they exceeded all bounds about what they were forbidden from it, We said to them, "Be apes, despised."
[Al-Quran 7:164 - 7:166

Scientific Experiments, Findings and on-going Research

Apes
The science journal Nature reported:
"The bonobo genome shows that more than 3% of the human genome is more closely related to either bonobos or chimpanzees than these are to each other. This can be used to illuminate the population history and selective events that affected the ancestor of bonobos and chimpanzees. In addition, about 25% of human genes contain parts that are more closely related to one of the two apes than the other. Such regions can now be identified and will hopefully contribute to the unravelling of the genetic background of phenotypic similarities among humans, bonobos and chimpanzees."

The Kent-State University reported:
"People often think we evolved from ancestors that look like apes, but no, apes in some ways evolved from ancestors that look like us," Lovejoy said. "It has been a popular idea to think humans are modified chimpanzees. From studying Ardipithecus ramidus, or 'Ardi,' we learn that we cannot understand or model human evolution from chimps and gorillas."

Pigs
In Genome-wide characterization of PRE-1 reveals a hidden evolutionary relationship between suidae and primates, the authors write:
"Although mammals share most of the same genes, the pig has always been thought to be a better biomedical model to humans than rodents due to its similar biochemical and physiological functions. The pig genome has been decoded, providing an necessary resource for mining similar genomic elements in non-coding regions. The SINE composition, being the second most abundant in terms of genome coverage, was the first to be considered for genomic mining. In this report, we described a parallel world of porcine PRE-1 that almost copies all of the genomic performance of the human Alu element in the genome. In addition, we further explained that the formation of PRE-1 fragments of different lengths is based on a mutation hot spot-dependent fracture mechanism. Lastly, we compared the evolutionary behavior of porcine PRE-1 with that of human Alus and concluded that they are both descended from 7SL RNA and generated by different, independent evolutionary pathways. Therefore, all of the genomic evidence for a closer taxonomic relationship between the suidae and primate are not limited to the genes but also extended to the SINEs."

Sanctity of Life of Believers

And He (is) the One Who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them within Makkah, after that He gave you victory over them. And is Allah of what you do All-Seer.
They (are) those who disbelieved and hindered you from Al-Masjid Al-Haraam while the offering (was) prevented from reaching its place (of sacrifice). And if not (for) men believing and women believing not you knew them that you may trample them and would befall you from them any harm without knowledge. That Allah may admit to His Mercy whom He wills. If they had been apart surely, We would have punished those who disbelieved among them (with) a punishment painful.
[Al-Quran 48:24-25

Surah al-Fath cites a practical example of the sanctity of the life of the Believers, explaining why Makkah was secured by Messenger Muhammad and his companions without any bloodshed.

Excerpt from

Bashr / Malak

And of His signs is this: He created you of dust, and behold you human beings bashrun, ranging widely!

[Al-Quran 30:20; Translation: Pickthall, edited in italics to retain word bashrun]

And He it is Who hath created man bashran from water, and hath appointed for him kindred by blood and kindred by marriage; for thy Lord is ever Powerful.

[Al-Quran 25:54; Translation: Pickthall, edited in italics to retain word bashran]

The Quran contrast 'bashr' with 'malak'; and 'insaan' with 'jaan / jinn'.

Adam was a bashr (Q15:28), and he was created with the same material as insaan (Q15:26).

Iblis was among the malak, and he was from the jinn (Q18:50).

Iblis tempted Adam with the prospect of becoming immortal, and/or a malak (Q7:20).

The Quran states that no bashr has been granted immortality (Q21:34).

The Quran states the materials bashr are created from: (dust [تُرَابٍۢ ], water [ٱلْمَآءِ]).

The Quran states the materials insaan is created from.

The Quran states the materials jaan / jinn are created from.

----------------------------------------------

The following is an excerpt from Q7 10-36 || Q12 :

Then whispered to both of them the Shaitaan to make apparent to both of them what was concealed from both of them of their shame. And he said, "(Did) not forbid you both your Lord from this [the] tree except that you two become Angels or you two become of the immortals."
[Al-Quran 7:20]

So when she heard of their scheming, she sent for them and she prepared for them a banquet and she gave each one of them a knife and she said, "Come out before them." Then when they saw him they greatly admired him, and cut their hands, they said, "Forbid Allah, not (is) this a man bashran not (is) this but an angel noble."
[Al-Quran 12:31; edited to retain word bashran in italics]

Adam was a bashr (بَشَرًا).

Iblis, the Satan (الشَّيْطَانُ) was a malak (مَلَكٌ).

One of the temptations that Iblis used to convince Adam to disobey His Lord was that there was a possibility of them becoming angels [ مَلَكَيْنِ (dual form of مَلَكٌ)].

The other temptation was the promise of immortality. Q21:34 is quite clear that no bashr has been granted immortality, not even the prophets (Q21:8)!

A common mytheme across religions is a sacred tree. The tree of life is a popular motif cropping up in ancient Egyptian drawings as well. It seems that Satan has been using the same temptations to tempt humans to err.

Also, from the exclamation of the Egyptian ladies at the banquet:  وَقُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَٰذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيم, it seems that they had an idea what a malak is, and how its different from a bashr!

The following is an excerpt from Q15 23-50 || Q12 :

Endotherms, The Genus Homo

And verily, We created humankind (out) of sounding clay from black mud altered.
[Al-Quran 15:26]

He said, "O my son! (Do) not relate your vision to your brothers lest they plan against you a plot. Indeed, the Shaitaan (is) to man an enemy open.
[Al-Quran 12:5]

The We were tasked with the creation of the Genus Homo. From fossils, we know that there existed many species of humans, who pre-existed the Adam mentioned after two ayaat (Q15:28).

Similarly, in Surah Yusuf, Joseph is not the first of his kind, but rather he has ten elder brothers.

Endotherms are able to regulate their body temperature. Q15:26 informs us of the material humans are made from: aged, warm, wet black mud? See concordance of root letters for  حَمَإٍand مَّسْنُونٍ

Ectotherms, class Reptilia, order Squamata, suborder Serpentes

And the jinn We created it from before from fire scorching.
[Al-Quran 15:27]

He said, "O my son! (Do) not relate your vision to your brothers lest they plan against you a plot. Indeed, the Shaitaan (is) to man an enemy open.
[Al-Quran 12:5]

Before the task of creation of the humans (Q15:26), the We were also tasked with the creation of the الْجَانَّ. According to earlier learnings, الْجَانَّ are snakes. They are scientifically classified as Reptiles, suborder Serpentes, which includes Snakes.

Ectotherms rely on environmental heat sources. As discussed in the post about snakes, the material used to create them is the end material of complete combustion, and can burn no longer.

The Quran informs us that fire is made from the green tree (Q36:80) ;

Creation of Endotherms vs Ectotherms || think Wet sanding vs Dry sanding: Wet sanding is better on metals and plastic, Dry sanding safer for wood, as a preventive measure, as wood can absorb water and get bloated. Consider the following excerpt from National Geographic

When snakes drink, “it doesn’t look like they are doing much of anything,” Moore says, but there’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

In a 2012 study David Cundall of Lehigh University and colleagues found that some species drink via capillary action, the same mechanism by which water climbs from roots to leaves in plants.

Snakes have skin folds in their lower jaw that expand to accommodate large prey. When they put their mouths in the water, those skin folds expand and absorb the liquid like a sponge via capillary action, then muscles squeeze it down into the gut.

Also consider the following:

Iblis (Satan) is from the jinn (Q18:50), that is a snake, an ectotherm ; he is the enemy of all mankind, as exposed in the ayaat that follow the commandment to prostrate to Adam.

And when said your Lord to the Angels, "Indeed, I (will) create a human being bashr(out) of clay from black mud altered.
[Al-Quran 15:28; translation edited in italics to retain word bashr]

Verily, (there) is in their stories a lesson for men (of) understanding. Not (it) is a narration invented, but a confirmation (of that) which (from) between his hands and a detailed explanation (of) all things, and a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
[Al-Quran 12:111]

Adam was created by Allah Himself with His Hands. Adam was created a بَشَرًا. Adam was created from  حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ, the material with which the various species of humans were created with by the 'We' mentioned two ayaat before (Q15:26)).

Yusuf was a بَشَرًا, as were his elder brothers.

Both Adam and Yusuf were chosen for a special purpose.
