[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

جَانٌّ (Snake || Jinn)

Abstract
The Quran uses the same word جَانٌّ variously translated as snake and jinn, according to context.
The description of the material with which الْجَانَّ are made implies that it does not possess the capability to produce heat. The snakes rely on external sources of temperature to regulate their body temperature.
The Quran informs us that الْجِنِّ have religious beliefs, and the Muslims among them believe in The Torah and from The Quran. Moreover, they also have a resurrection and judgement awaiting them.
Snakes and serpents are also mentioned in The Bible, and they play a key role in most mythologies. The Quran comments upon these beliefs as well.

Full Text
The Quran uses the word جَانٌّ while describing what Moses' stick became like (translated as snake) when it came alive, and it uses the same word when mentioning the creature created from fire (translated as jinn), as can be seen in the screenshot below:

Excerpt from corpus.quran.com

'When a snake strikes, it moves so fast it could hit you four times within the space of one eyeblink. If a human moved that fast they would lose consciousness... '
'But one particular aspect of snake attacks is even more baffling. Because they attack in such a short space of time, snakes have to withstand extraordinary forces on their bodies: forces that would completely incapacitate virtually any other animal.
Penning found that snakes experience forces of up to 30G – 30 times the force of gravity – when accelerating towards their prey.
In contrast, even the most highly-trained fighter pilots lose control of their limbs at 8G, when performing extreme manoeuvres for short periods of time. Any more than 10G, and they quickly lose consciousness.'

Made from Fire
The Quran mentions that the جَانٌّ were created from Fire (Q15:27 & Q55:15).

And the jinn We created it before from fire scorching.
[Al-Quran 15:27]

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.
[Al-Quran 55:15]
مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ is generally taken to mean smokeless fire, even though the other words from the same root vary in meaning: http://corpus.quran.com/qurandictionary.jsp?q=mrj#(55:15:4)

A smokeless fire is quite possible as demonstrated in this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F04uaMZbLVw

I wonder what the exact meaning of نَارِ السَّمُومِ and مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ might be, as what is noteworthy is that fire consumes the fuel and the product and by-products of the process are 'not combustible'! So, the material with which the الْجَانَّ is made does not possess the capability to produce heat.

So:
1) it should not be possible to burn them,
2) nor should it be possible for them to generate body heat.

As for (1), there are reports that forest fires do not diminish reptile populations, for example:

As for (2), here’s a bit about Thermoregulation:

Thermoregulation
Snakes are ectotherms while humans are endotherms!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoregulation:
Thermoregulation is the ability of an organism to keep its body temperature within certain boundaries, even when the surrounding temperature is very different. A thermoconforming organism, by contrast, simply adopts the surrounding temperature as its own body temperature, thus avoiding the need for internal thermoregulation.  ...
Thermoregulation in organisms runs along a spectrum from endothermy to ectothermy. Endotherms create most of their heat via metabolic processes, and are colloquially referred to as warm-blooded. ...  Ectotherms use external sources of temperature to regulate their body temperatures. They are colloquially referred to as cold-blooded despite the fact that body temperatures often stay within the same temperature ranges as warm-blooded animals. Ectotherms are the opposite of endotherms when it comes to regulating internal temperatures. In ectotherms, the internal physiological sources of heat are of negligible importance; the biggest factor that enables them to maintain adequate body temperatures is due to environmental influences.

Moreover, an ayat describes the human fetus using the same root: ج ن ن

Those who avoid great sins and the immoralities except the small faults; indeed, your Lord (is) vast (in) forgiveness. He (is) most knowing about you when He produced you from the earth and when you (were) fetuses in (the) wombs (of) your mothers. So (do) not ascribe purity (to) yourselves. He knows best (he) who fears.
[Al-Quran 53:32]

So, it is not surprising to learn that fetal temperature is maternally dependent until birth. Thermoregulation in babies starts after birth, though its still immature in neonates and infants.

Reptiles

And verily, We created humankind (out) of sounding clay from black mud altered.
And the jinn We created it before from fire scorching.
[Al-Quran 15:26-27]

Humans are classified as mammals, and snakes are classified as reptiles. According to fossil records, reptiles appeared before mammals on Earth.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reptile:
Reptiles are tetrapod animals in the class Reptilia, comprising today's turtles, crocodilians, snakes, amphisbaenians, lizards, tuatara, and their extinct relatives. ... The earliest known proto-reptiles originated around 312 million years ago during the Carboniferous period, having evolved from advanced reptiliomorph tetrapods that became increasingly adapted to life on dry land.

Snakes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake
Snakes are elongated, legless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes. Like all squamates, snakes are ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales. ...
Living snakes are found on every continent except Antarctica, and on most smaller land masses; exceptions include some large islands, such as Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, the Hawaiian archipelago, and the islands of New Zealand, and many small islands of the Atlantic and central Pacific oceans. Additionally, sea snakes are widespread throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans. More than 20 families are currently recognized, comprising about 520 genera and about 3,600 species. They range in size from the tiny, 10.4 cm (4.1 in)-long thread snake to the reticulated python of 6.95 meters (22.8 ft) in length. The fossil species Titanoboa cerrejonensis was 12.8 meters (42 ft) long. ...
Most species are nonvenomous and those that have venom use it primarily to kill and subdue prey rather than for self-defense. Some possess venom potent enough to cause painful injury or death to humans. Nonvenomous snakes either swallow prey alive or kill by constriction.

Firewood

And that we, among us (are) Muslims and among us (are) unjust. And whoever submits, then those have sought (the) right path.
And as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood."
And that if they had remained on the Way, surely We (would) have given them to drink water (in) abundance,
[Al-Quran 72:14-16]

Upon resurrection, Surah alJinn states that the unjust jinns will be the firewood of hell. Allah produces fire from green trees:

The One Who made for you from the tree [the] green - fire, and behold! You from it ignite.
[Al-Quran 36:80

Trees generally grow in gardens. Curiously, the word for snakes and jinns shares the same root letters with gardens: http://corpus.quran.com/qurandictionary.jsp?q=jnn

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firewood#Heating_value:
The moisture content of firewood determines how it burns and how much heat is released. ... The energy content of a measure of wood depends on the tree species. ... The higher the moisture content, the more energy that must be used to evaporate (boil) the water in the wood before it will burn. Dry wood delivers more energy for heating than green wood of the same species.

Religion of الْجِنِّ
The Quran informs us that there are among the الْجِنِّ Muslims (those who submit to the will and guidance of Allah), and those who are unjust:

And that we, among us (are) Muslims and among us (are) unjust. And whoever submits, then those have sought (the) right path.
And as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood."
And that if they had remained on the Way, surely We (would) have given them to drink water (in) abundance,
[Al-Quran 72:14-16]

The Torah & The Quran
The Quran informs us at two places about when a group of the الْجِنِّ heard The Quran, and their response to it:

And [mention, O Muhammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur'an. And when they attended it, they said, "Listen quietly." And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners.
They said, "O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path.
O our people, respond to the Messenger of Allah and believe in him; Allah will forgive for you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.
But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allah will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error."
Do they not see that Allah , who created the heavens and earth and did not fail in their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes. Indeed, He is over all things competent.
[Al-Quran 46:29-33, Translation: Sahih International]

Surah alJinn:

Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an.
It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone.
And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son
And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression.
And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie.
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden.
And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger].
And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.
And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.
And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.
And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah ], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course.
[Al-Quran 72:1-14, Translation: Sahih International]

Snakes & Serpents in The Bible & World Mythology

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serpents_in_the_Bible:
Serpents (Hebrew: נחש‎ nāḥāš) are referred to in both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. The symbol of a serpent or snake played important roles in religious and cultural life of ancient Egypt, Canaan, Mesopotamia and Greece. The serpent was a symbol of evil power and chaos from the underworld as well as a symbol of fertility, life and healing. Nachash, Hebrew for "snake", is also associated with divination, including the verb-form meaning to practice divination or fortune-telling. In the Hebrew Bible, Nachash occurs in the Torah to identify the serpent in Eden. Throughout the Hebrew Bible, it is also used in conjunction with saraph to describe vicious serpents in the wilderness. Tanniyn, a form of dragon-monster, also occurs throughout the Hebrew Bible. In the Book of Exodus, the staffs of Moses and Aaron are turned into serpents, a nachash for Moses, a tanniyn for Aaron. In the New Testament, the Book of Revelation makes use of ancient serpent and the Dragon several times to identify Satan or the devil. (Rev 12:9; 20:2) The serpent is most often identified with the hubristic Satan, and sometimes with Lilith.
The story of the Garden of Eden and the Fall of Man represents a tradition among the Abrahamic peoples, with a presentation more or less symbolical of certain moral and religious truths.
The Quran also uses distinct words for serpent (ثُعْبَانٌ) and snake (جَانٌّ). Moses' stick became like a snake when God spoke with him (Q27:10, Q28:31), and the stick became a serpent when he threw it down it front of the Pharaoh (Q7:107, Q26:32).
Regarding Adam's trial in The Garden, it informs us that Iblis was from الْجِنِّ, that is, from the snakes:

And when We said to the Angels, "Prostrate to Adam," so they prostrated except Iblis. (He) was of the jinn, and he rebelled against the Command (of) his Lord. Will you then take him and his offspring (as) protectors other than Me, while they (are) to you enemies? Wretched for the wrongdoers (is) the exchange.
Not I made them witness the creation (of) the heavens and the earth and not the creation (of) themselves and not I Am the One to take the misleaders (as) helper(s).
[Al-Quran 18:50-51]

O Children (of) Adam! (Let) not tempt you [the] Shaitaan as he drove out your parents from Paradise, stripping from both of them their clothing to show both of them their shame. Indeed, he sees you - he and his tribe from where not you see them. Indeed, We have made the devils friends of those who (do) not believe.
[Al-Quran 7:27]

The Quran also states that Satan & his tribe can see us from where we cannot see them. It also informs us that he is رَجِيمٌ

[Al-Quran 15:34]

Most translators translate رَجِيمٌ as outcast, rejected, expelled, etc. However, the root words ر ج م share words which mean stoned, or pelted with stones.

The following can be the possible explanations:
  1. So far twenty families of snakes of about 3600 species are recognised. Perhaps Iblis and his tribe are a yet undiscovered family, genera or specie... ?!
  2. Snakes have a wide diversity of skin coloration patterns. This gives them an advantage to blend into the surroundings and escape unnoticed.
  3. Snakes can see infrared while we can see the visible spectrum.
  4. Iblis and his tribe are under constant danger of being pelted with stones, and thus are in hiding.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakes_in_mythology:
Snakes were central to many mythologies because of their perceived quality of being both familiar and exotic. The behaviour of snakes and their facial features (e.g. the unblinking, lidless eyes) seemed to imply that they were intelligent, that they lived by reason and not instinct, and yet their thought-processes were as alien to humans as their ways of movement.
In most cultures snakes were symbolic and symbols of healing and transformation, but in some cultures snakes were fertility symbols, for example the Hopi people of North America performed an annual snake dance to celebrate the union of Snake Youth (a Sky spirit) and Snake Girl (an Underworld spirit) and to renew fertility of Nature. During the dance, live snakes were handled and at the end of the dance the snakes were released into the fields to guarantee good crops. "The snake dance is a prayer to the spirits of the clouds, the thunder and the lightning, that the rain may fall on the growing crops.." In other cultures snakes symbolised the umbilical cord, joining all humans to Mother Earth. The Great Goddess often had snakes as her familiars - sometimes twining around her sacred staff, as in ancient Crete - and they were worshipped as guardians of her mysteries of birth and regeneration.

The Quran informs us:

Lo! Allah pardoneth not that partners should be ascribed unto Him. He pardoneth all save that to whom He will. Whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah hath wandered far astray.
They invoke in His stead only females; they pray to none else than Satan, a rebel
Whom Allah cursed, and he said: Surely I will take of Thy bondmen an appointed portion,
And surely I will lead them astray, and surely I will arouse desires in them, and surely I will command them and they will cut the cattle' ears, and surely I will command them and they will change Allah's creation. Whoso chooseth Satan for a patron instead of Allah is verily a loser and his loss is manifest.
He promiseth them and stirreth up desires in them, and Satan promiseth them only to beguile.
For such, their habitation will be hell, and they will find no refuge therefrom.
But as for those who believe and do good works We shall bring them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. It is a promise from Allah in truth; and who can be more truthful than Allah in utterance?
It will not be in accordance with your desires, nor the desires of the People of the Scripture. He who doeth wrong will have the recompense thereof, and will not find against Allah any protecting friend or helper.
And whoso doeth good works, whether of male or female, and he (or she) is a believer, such will enter paradise and they will not be wronged the dint in a date-stone.
Who is better in religion than he who surrendereth his purpose to Allah while doing good (to men) and followeth the tradition of Abraham, the upright? Allah (Himself) chose Abraham for friend.
Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Allah ever surroundeth all things.
[Al-Quran 4:116-126, Translation: Pickthal]
