[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

The Nafs of The Insaan

Surah Ta Ha quotes Allah telling Moses that the Hour will definitely be established to recompense every Nafs:

14

14. Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

15. Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.

16. So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish

Surah az-Zumar states that the greatest loss in the Hereafter is the loss of the Nafs, and the family:

10

10. Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."

11. Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

12. And I have been commanded to be the first [among you] of the Muslims."

13. Say, "Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day."

14. Say, "Allah [alone] do I worship, sincere to Him in my religion,

15. So worship what you will besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss."

16. They will have canopies of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allah threatens His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.

Surah Qaf informs us that whatever diminishes of us is being preserved, in a record, and the Earth will give up all of it when it’s time for us to be raised up. It also states that every word that the Nafs whispers is recorded. It then informs a scene from the resurrection day:

16

16. And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

17. When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left.

18. Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].

19. And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.

20. And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat.

21. And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness.

22. [It will be said], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp."

23. And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared."

24. [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever,

25. Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter,

26. Who made [as equal] with Allah another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment."

27. His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error."

28. [Allah] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the warning.

29. The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants."

Surah at-Tur ayat 21 states that every iMeri (امْرِئٍ) is in pledge, and Surah al-Muddasir ayat 38 states that every Nafs (نَفْسٍ) is in pledge:

21

21. And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained

38

38. Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

Surah at-Tariq informs us that each Nafs has protectors guarding it. It draws attention to what we have been created with, and then draws attention to the returning sky and the cracking Earth, stating that surely we will be raised up for reckoning. The Quran is the decisive Word …

4

4. There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

5. So let man observe from what he was created.

6. He was created from a fluid, ejected,

7. Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

8. Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able.

9. The Day when secrets will be put on trial,

10. Then man will have no power or any helper.

11. By the sky which returns [rain]

12. And [by] the earth which cracks open,

13. Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,

14. And it is not amusement

Surah al-Fajr states that the Nafs-e-Muttmainah will be allowed to enter Allah’s worshippers, and they will enter Allah’s Gardens in the Hereafter:

27

30

27. [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

28. Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

29. And enter among My [righteous] servants

30. And enter My Paradise.

Surah ash-Shams informs us that each Nafs has been given understanding of its good and its evil:

7

7. And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it

8. And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,

9. He has succeeded who purifies it,

10. And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]

Then, Surah ash-Shams ayat 11onwards narrates about the Thamud, and the consequence of their sinful disobedience.
