[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

No Evolution, No Change

The Standing Law of Recompense

30:30

So be steadfast in faith in all uprightness ˹O Prophet˺—the natural Way of Allah which He has instilled in ˹all˺ people. Let there be no change in this creation of Allah. That is the Straight Way, but most people do not know.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

So direct your face [i.e., self] toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fiṭrah[1] of Allāh upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of Allāh.[2] That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.

— Saheeh International

[1]i.e., let people remain true to their fiṭrah within the religion of Islām.

[2]The natural inborn inclination of man to worship his Creator prior to the corruption of his nature by external influences.  Thus, Islāmic monotheism is described as the religion of fiṭrah - that of the inherent nature of mankind.

So, set your face to the Faith uprightly, this (faith) being the nature designed by Allah on which He has created the mankind. There is no change in Allah’s creation. That is the straight faith, but most of the people do not know.

— T. Usmani

So [Prophet] as a man of pure faith, stand firm and true in your devotion to the religion. This is the natural disposition God instilled in mankind- there is no altering God’s creation- and this is the right religion, though most people do not realize it.

— M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

So set thy purpose (O Muhammad) for religion as a man by nature upright - the nature (framed) of Allah, in which He hath created man. There is no altering (the laws of) Allah's creation. That is the right religion, but most men know not -

— M. Pickthall

So set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not.

— A. Yusuf Ali

So set you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) your face towards the religion (of pure Islâmic Monotheism) Hanîf (worship none but Allâh Alone). Allâh’s Fitrah (i.e. Allâh’s Islâmic Monotheism) with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illâh (i.e. the religion of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism): that is the straight religion, but most of men know not.[1] [Tafsir At-Tabarî]

— Al-Hilali & Khan

[1](V.30) See the footnote of (Verse 10:19): (V.19) Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Every child is born on Al-Fitrah [true faith of Islâmic Monotheism (i.e. to worship none but Allâh Alone)], but his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism, as an animal gives birth to a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?" (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.2, Hadith No.467). [See also the Qur’ân, Verse V.30:30]

The true, correct religion (the standing law of recompense) clearly declares that:

... No change in the creation of Allah ...

[Al-Quran 30:30]

Modern science holds evolution of species as an article of faith.

Islamic monotheism, the Religion of Abraham, must hold 'No change in the creation of Allah' as an article of faith.

So it follows that:

  1. all creatures, all species, were created as is by Allah
  2. we do not have the liberty to make changes in any of Allah's creation
  3. we should especially not make changes in humans, as that will lead to a corruption that we may not be able to reverse
  4. changing creation is against the standing law, and will be recompensed accordingly
  5. Adam's attempt to change himself resulted in his devolution
  6. we humans are presently in a devolved state
  7. directing our face towards Allah's Deen, the Truth, will have a restorative outcome
  8. just like Allah separated the skies from the earth, He also separated humans from other creatures, making humans in His Image (Fitrat-Allah)
  9. humans were created to rule over other creatures, as Allah's vice-regent (khalifa)
  10. as responsible agents, endowed with freewill, we are accountable for our actions, and will be compensated accordingly
  11. most humans are not even aware of this fact

When Adam disobeyed Allah, he (Adam) put his soul (nafs) in a state of darkness, and suffered bodily harm, slipping out of what he was in, as well as being stripped of his superior natural clothing. Further misadventures by our ancestors have also added to more weakness and diseases to the humans, and corruption of the earth. Though Allah forgives and restores, undoing much of our corruption, we do suffer from some of the individual and collective consequences of others' mistakes, in this world. Thus are made evident, and explained in detail, the signs in the horizons, and within our soul (nafs). With grateful patience, we need to endure what we must suffer, while believing and doing good (acts of reform), sincerely adhering to Allah's Deen.

Allah wills that each human willingly adheres to Allah's Deen, worshipping Him with a grateful heart, delighted to be honoured with the lofty job of worshipping Allah, in complete submission to Allah, i.e. being in a state of Islam. Allah's revelations guide to how to enter into Islam completely.

On the Day of Deen, when each soul (nafs) will be recompensed according to what it has earned in this life, each individual will enjoy or suffer the consequence of its deeds that it sent forth for its afterlife. Every soul (nafs) is in pledge for what it earns. Those who direct their face towards the Deen-e-Hanif, inclining to the truth, will be reformed and restored to the perfect initial state and will inherit the Paradise that was lost. Those who look the other way, and choose falsehood instead of the truth, will suffer further devolution, completely losing their soul (nafs), and their family, to consciously suffer in the fires of hell, continuously.

On the Day of Deen, Allah, the Fatir of the skies and earth, will separate the people of the gardens of eternity from the people of the fires of eternity permanently. The doors in the sky will be opened, and the people of the gardens of eternity will be allowed to enter through them, ascending to their gardens. The doors will not be opened for the people of the fires of eternity, nor will they be granted permission to ascend. We need to believe and put our trust in Allah, who has separated us, even in this world:

Hadith of Prophet Muhammad

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet () said, "Allah created Adam in His picture, sixty cubits (about 30 meters) in height. When He created him, He said (to him), "Go and greet that group of angels sitting there, and listen what they will say in reply to you, for that will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring." Adam (went and) said, 'As-Salamu alaikum (Peace be upon you).' They replied, 'AsSalamu-'Alaika wa Rahmatullah (Peace and Allah's Mercy be on you) So they increased 'Wa Rahmatullah' The Prophet () added 'So whoever will enter Paradise, will be of the shape and picture of Adam Since then the creation of Adam's (offspring) (i.e. stature of human beings is being diminished continuously) to the present time."

Ignorant of The Law of Sacrifice

And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allāh commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allāh from being among the ignorant."

[Al-Quran 2:67, Translation: Saheeh International]

The Bani Israel had sinned: they had taken a الۡعِجۡلَ (calf) for worship (Q2:51). They were commanded to kill their nafs (Q2:54); and then after thirteen ayaat, we read that they were commanded to slaughter a بَقَرَةً (cow / heifer) (Q2:67), probably as a sin offering. They thought Moses (Musa عليه السلام) was joking with them, to which Moses (Musa عليه السلام) responded with the invocation:

... I seek refuge in Allāh from being among the ignorant

The Quran uses the triliteral root jīm hā lām (ج ه ل) twenty-four times. ... The words are generally translated as ignorant, ignorance, or synonyms of these words.

The Torah was revealed to Moses (Musa عليه السلام), and The Injeel to Jesus (Isa عليه السلام), and The Quran to Muhammad  . Each revelation contains Allah ﷻ 's Laws:

And We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allāh willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allāh is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.

And judge, [O Muḥammad], between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allāh has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allāh only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.

Then is it the judgement of [the time of] ignorance they desire? But who is better than Allāh in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith].

[Al-Quran 5:48-50, Translation: Saheeh International]

Offering as a means of Nearness to Allah

The first animal sacrifice recorded in the scriptures is that offered by the two sons of Adam. It was accepted of one of them, and rejected from the other:

And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both made an offering [to Allāh], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allāh only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].

[Al-Quran 5:27, Translation: Saheeh International]

The Quran does not go into the details of why they were offering the sacrifice, but it does indicate that it was meant as a source of nearness to Allah    by the word قَرَّبَا (come near?) before the word قُرۡبَانًا (means of nearness?). The triliteral root qāf rā bā (ق ر ب) occurs 96 times in the Quran, translated in terms of nearness, closeness, relationship, brought close, ...  such as spending in Q9:99

But among the bedouins are some who believe in Allāh and the Last Day and consider what they spend as means of nearness to Allāh and of [obtaining] invocations of the Messenger. Unquestionably, it is a means of nearness for them. Allāh will admit them to His mercy. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhājireen and the Anṣār and those who followed them with good conduct - Allāh is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.

[Al-Quran 9:99-100, Translation: Saheeh International]

Surah at-Taubah is about waging war along with the Prophet Muhammad  against the Meccans who had persecuted them for their faith, and after two decades of invitation to accept Islam, they had been served notice of war. This required people to spend for the war preparations, as well as participating in the war, putting their lives in danger.

However, common usage and understanding of the word Qurban(i) is the sacrifice of an animal.

In Q5:27, we see a strange link between slaughtering an animal and the killing of a person: when the offering made by one brother is accepted, and not from the other, the other kills the brother whose offering was accepted. This narration about Adam's two sons is followed by the decree for the Bani Israel that:

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And Our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

[Al-Quran 5:32, Translation: Saheeh International]

Abraham (Ibrahim عليه السلام) is the patriarch of Jews, Christians and Muslims (Q2:135, Q2:140, Q6:161, Q19:58, Q22:78). He was of the same religious beliefs (مِنۡ شِيۡعَتِهٖ) as Noah (Nuh عليه السلام) (Q37:83)

In the narrations about Abraham (Ibrahim عليه السلام), we read about the roasted calf (Q11:69, Q51:26) he served the honoured guests, when they suddenly arrived, unannounced. This means that the roast had already been prepared...

Prior to this visit, we read about his vision to sacrifice his son Ismael (Ismail عليه السلام), to which both father and son willingly submitted, and Allah  graciously substituted an animal just as he was about to slaughter his son:

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."

And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,

We called to him, "O Abraham,

You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

Indeed, this was the clear trial.

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,

[Al-Quran 37:102-107, Translation: Saheeh International]

So, there does seem to be a scriptural link between saving human lives, and slaughtering an animal as an offering instead.

Symbolically, the putting down of the forehead on the ground, as in prayer, like Ishmael (Ismail عليه السلام), is a means of seeking  nearness to Allah ﷻ.

Surah al-Alaq, which begins with the command to read (Q96:1), concludes with the command to not obey the person who forbids or prevents from praying (Q96:9-10), but rather prostrate and draw near (Q96:19):

Recite in the name of your Lord who created

...

No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allāh].

[Al-Quran 96, Translation: Saheeh International]

All thanks and praise to Allah عزوجل, muslims daily prostrate in prayers, and they also offer the annual sacrifice by slaughtering an animal, and sharing the meat.

The jews stopped prostrating publicly, and sacrificing animals, after their temple in Jerusalem was destroyed. Their public prostration is limited to some annual occasion now, while few jews do prostrate in their private prayers, according to online search results.

Revisiting Moses (Musa عليه السلام)'s invocation quoted in Q2:67, which is the first quoted dua in The Quran:

... I seek refuge in Allāh from being among the ignorant

Moses (Musa عليه السلام) seeks refuge from being among the ignorant ones. So, there is an element of ignorance in not willing to slaughter for the sake of Allah. From the ayat that follow, we learn that the Bani Israel were unwilling to slaughter a cow, they kept asking questions to evade the command, yet eventually, they did slaughter the cow that was clearly identified to them.

So, since the time of Adam's sons, there seems to exist some 'law' whereby there is a established tradition of seeking nearness to Allah through offering a sacrifice. Moreover, the piety or willing intention of the person is also a key factor in the acceptance of the offer.

[Say], "Then is it other than Allāh I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.

[Al-Quran 6:114, Translation: Saheeh International]

Q3 33-34, 59-60 || Q12

Adam & Joseph

Exploring the mention about Adam in Surah Aal-e-Imran (Q3:33-34, Q3:59-60) in the light of Surah Yusuf

Ascendants, Descendants & The Chosen Ones

Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Nuh, and (the) family (of) Ibrahim and (the) family (of) Imran over the worlds.
Descendents, some of them from others. And Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
[Al-Quran 3:33-34]

And thus will choose you your Lord and will teach you of (the) interpretation (of) the narratives and complete His Favor on you and on (the) family (of) Yaqub as He completed it on your two forefathers from before - Ibrahim and Ishaq. Indeed, your Lord (is) All-Knower, All-Wise."
[Al-Quran 12:6]

All the prophets who came after Adam are descendants of Adam. Abraham was a descendant of Adam, and an ascendant of Joseph.

Indeed, (the) likeness (of) Isa near Allah (is) like (the) likeness (of) Adam. He created him from dust then He said to him, "Be," and he was.
The truth (is) from your Lord, so (do) not be among the doubters. Then whoever argues (with) you concerning it from after what came to you of the knowledge then say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, and our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves, then let us pray humbly, and [we] invoke the curse (of) Allah on the liars.
Indeed this, surely it (is) the narration - [the] true. And (there is) no (of) god except Allah. And indeed, Allah, surely He (is) the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
And if they turn back, then indeed, Allah (is) All-Knowing, of the corrupters.
[Al-Quran 3:59-63]

Do they then feel secure (against) that comes to them an overwhelming [of] punishment (of) Allah, or comes to them the Hour suddenly while they (do) not perceive?
Say, "This (is) my way; I invite to Allah, with insight, I and whoever follows me. And Glory be (to) Allah and not I am of the polytheists."
And not We sent from before you, but men We revealed to them from (among) (the) people (of) the townships. So have not they traveled in the earth and seen how was (the) end (of) those who (were) from before them? And surely the home (of) the Hereafter (is) best for those who fear Allah. Then will not you use reason?
Until when gave up hope the Messengers, and thought that they certainly were denied, then came to them Our help, and was saved whom We willed. And not (can) be repelled Our punishment from the people (who are) criminals.
Verily, (there) is in their stories a lesson for men (of) understanding. Not (it) is a narration invented, but a confirmation (of that) which (from) between his hands and a detailed explanation (of) all things, and a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
[Al-Quran 12:107-111]

Both Adam and Jesus did not have a father. Joseph spent many years without his father.

Other humans probably existed when Adam was especially created by Allah for the purpose of Khilafat. Joseph had many brothers, but Allah chose him to complete His favours upon the Family of Jacob. Many humans existed when Jesus was especially created by Allah to be The Messiah. Muhammad ﷺ  was also from the family of Abraham. As Joseph was a brother from another mother, so are the descendants of Ishmael brothers of the descendants of Isaac.

Adam عليه السلام , Joseph عليه السلام , Jesus عليه السلام and Muhammad ﷺ grew up without the protecting presence of a human father. All were especially protected.

Allah chose Adam after his fall. Allah completed his favours upon Joseph in spite of the troubles and distances Satan had created between him and his family. Muhammad ﷺ prevailed over the polytheistic state of Makkah and surrounding regions. Allah will re-send Jesus, the Messiah.

Joseph and his brothers, and their descendants, are the Bani Israel. Jesus عليه السلام was a Messenger of Allah to the Bani Israel. To Iblis, Adam's khilafat was not acceptable. To Joseph's brothers, the vision of sun, moon and planets prostrating to Joseph was not acceptable.

To the Bani Israel, Jesus عليه السلام was not acceptable as the awaited Messiah and the Messenger of Allah.

To the Bani Israel, Muhammad ﷺ was not acceptable as the awaited Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.

The Deen & The Recompense

Indeed, (the) likeness (of) Isa near Allah (is) like (the) likeness (of) Adam. He created him from dust then He said to him, "Be," and he was.
The truth (is) from your Lord, so (do) not be among the doubters.
[Al-Quran 3:59-60]

They said, "Then what (will be the) recompense (of) if you are liars."
They said, "Its recompense (is that one) who, it is found in his bag, then he (will be) his recompense. Thus (do) we recompense the wrongdoers."
So he began with their bags before (the) bag (of) his brother; then he brought it out from (the) bag (of) his brother. Thus (did) We plan for Yusuf. Not he could take his brother by the law (of) the king, except that willed Allah We raise (in) degrees whom We will, but over every possessor (of) knowledge (is) the All-Knower.
[Al-Quran 12:74-76]

Jesus is the knowledge of The Hour (السَّاعَةُ). All other deens will be defeated, and Allah's Deen will prevail over the whole world.
