And when I am
ill, then He cures me, [Al-Quran 26:80]
Disease
& Cure - II
The triliteral root shīn fā yā (ش ف ي) for cure/healing occurs six times: twice as a verb and four times as a noun.
The verb form occurs twice to inform us that it is Allah who cures diseases:
أَلَا تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا نَّكَثُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّوا بِإِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَءُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ فَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَوْهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
Will not you fight a
people who broke their oaths and determined to drive out the Messenger and they
began (to attack) you first time? Do you fear them? But Allah (has) more right
that you should fear Him, if you are believers.
Fight them - Allah
will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over
them, and will heal (the) breasts (of) a people (who are)
believers.
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
And when I am ill, then He cures me,
[Al-Quran 26:80]
Al-Quran
Three
nouns (Q10:57, Q17:82 and Q41:44) inform us that the Quran is a healing for the
believers:
O mankind! Verily
has come to you an instruction from your Lord, and a healing for what (is) in your breasts,
and guidance and mercy for the believers.
[Al-Quran 10:57]
And We reveal from
the Quran that it (is) a
healing and a mercy for the believers, but not it increases the
wrongdoers except (in) loss.
[Al-Quran 17:82]
قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ
وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى أُولَٰئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ
And if We (had) made
it a Quran (in) a foreign (language), they (would have) said, "Why not are
explained in detail its verses? (Is it) a foreign (language) and an Arab?"
Say, "It (is) for those who believe, a guidance and a healing." And those
who (do) not believe, in their ears (is) deafness, and it (is) for them
blindness. Those are being called from a place far."
[Al-Quran 41:44]
Honey
The
Quran informs us that there is healing in honey for mankind:

Honey
is available all over the world.

However, this should not be taken to mean that honey is the only substance that cures, and should be prescribed for all diseases. The Quran narrates some specific cases and each one is differently handled.
