[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

Noor, in a bottle ...

...

Say, "He (is) Allah, the One.

Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute.

Not He begets and not He is begotten.

And not is for Him equivalent any [one]."

[Al-Quran 112]

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى is One, Only, Unique, and He is the Noor of the skies and earth:

[Al-Quran 24:35]

Trying to understand the above ayah, looking at the standard English translations, I found the word زُجَاجَةٍ translated generally as 'glass'.
Today, searching for this root across the text, I find that this word is only used in this ayat and nowhere else in The Quran.
Online search for the meaning of this word results in 'bottle'. Other searches result in glass bottle, ...

According to Wiktionary, [copied on December 23, 2024]:

Noun

[edit]

زُجَاجَة or زَجَاجَة or زِجَاجَة • (zujāja or zajāja or zijāja) f (singulative, collective زُجَاج m (zujāj) orزَجَاج (zajāj) or زِجَاج (zijāj))

  1. piece of glass
  2. glass vessel; bottle; flask
  3. glass lamp

According to Reverso, [copied on December 27, 2024]:

I always carry a bottle of clean water when hiking in remote areas.
A bottle containing water sat on the windowsill, waiting to be used.
Please refill the empty pill bottle before we go on vacation.
After the hike, everyone needed a bottle of still water.

...

So, a source of light, that looks like a bottle, ... imagine a tubular structure, like a torch? The source of Nur of the skies and earth.

Regarding Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى 's Eye, we read in Surah Ta Ha:

that is, ‘Put him (the baby) in the chest, then cast it into the river, then let the river throw it by the shore, and it will be picked up by one who is enemy to Me and enemy to him.’ And I had cast love on you from Myself (so that you might be favourite of all), and that you might be brought up under My eye.

[Al-Quran 20:39, Translation: T. Usmani]

An Eye that produces its own light, and does not depend on any external source of light to illuminate anything.

Does Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى have just one eye? The next ayat of Surah Ta Ha (Q20:40) mentions the eye of Moses (Musa عليه السلام) ' mother. It is also mentioned in singular. There are Hadith attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that states that Allah is not one-eyed (quoted below).

Allah ﷻ , in His Person, is above His Arsh, outside the created seven skies and earth. He ﷻ shines His Noor upon His creation. His Noor encompasses everyone and everything. Nothing is hidden from Him. He grants His Noor to whom He Wills, and withholds from whom He Wills.

The Quran is a Noor (Q7:157), and The Torah was also a Noor (Q5:44) before it, and so was The Injeel (Q5:46). Regarding The Quran, it states:

Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Quran˺ down on the Night of Glory.[1]

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

[1] It is also believed that the angels descend with all decreed matters for the whole year during that night (al-qadr also means ordainment or destiny).

Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree.

— Saheeh International

[Al-Quran Surah al-Qadr, ayat 1]

The revealed scriptures are a Nur in the darkness of this world. They show the Believers the path of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى , guiding them in all matters of faith, conduct and morality.

Hadith

Narrated `Abdullah: Ad-Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah is not hidden from you; He is not one-eyed," and pointed with his hand towards his eye, adding, "While Al-Masih Ad- Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a protruding grape."

Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah did not send any prophet but that he warned his nation of the one-eyed liar (Ad-Dajjal). He is one-eyed while your Lord is not one-eyed, The word 'Kafir' (unbeliever) is written between his two eyes."

The Arctic Ocean (عَيۡنٍ حَمِئَةٍ)

...

Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness."

[Al-Quran 18:86, Translation: A. Yusuf Ali]

As discussed in Dhu al Qarnayn visited the Polar Regions?, ayat 86 of Surah al-Kahf is uniquely describing the Arctic Ocean and the region around it. This post is focused on the two unique words that describe the ocean: a spring of murky water (عَيۡنٍ حَمِئَةٍ)

The word  is variously translated as spring and eye, as can be seen in this search:

Now consider this map of the Arctic region:

Compare it with the image of an eye:
[Screenshot from An Eye]

Both descriptions of the word عَيۡنٍ fit the Arctic region.

To quote from Dhu al Qarnayn visited the Polar Regions?:

What does the Sun appear to be disappearing in?
‘ainin hamee-atin’ is variously translated as a well or warm spring, or spring with foul fetid mud [2], murky waters, dark mud, and so on [3].

There is no land at the North Pole. ‘The Arctic consists of ocean that is largely surrounded by land. As such, the climate of much of the Arctic is moderated by the ocean water, which can never have a temperature below −2 °C (28 °F).’ [4]

The lands near the North Pole, in the Arctic Circle, are known for hot springs and geysers, with muddy water spewing out of some [5] [6] [7] [8]. However, such places are also there near the South Pole, though perhaps lesser in number or less discovered [10] [11] [12]. Therefore, hot springs and geysers may not be a uniquely distinguishing feature of the North Pole from the South Pole. Hence, I’m inclined to think that ‘ainin hamee-atin’ refers to the warm waters of the Arctic Ocean.

Going by Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation:'murky water', the Arctic Ocean itself is fed by the world's largest rivers, and has melting ice making its water murky.

_Major rivers flowing into the Arctic [quote from Arctic Change on March 29, 2024]

The Arctic Ocean receives a large amount of fresh water from river runoff relative to its area, compared to other oceans. There are five major rivers that flow into the Arctic, the Mackenzie and Yukon in North America, and the three largest in Asia, the Ob, Yenisey and Lena Rivers.

_Melting ice causing murky waters [quote from Melting Ice, Murky Waters: Understanding Arctic Ocean Changes on March 29, 2024]

the researchers found that while some locations received increased levels of sunlight due to the loss of ice, other locations received decreased levels of sunlight. They attribute this to increased murkiness in the water from river runoff resulting from the melting ice, as the rivers carry sediments and other land-based materials into the waters, thus blocking sunlight from reaching photosynthetic marine life on the shallow seafloor.
