[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

De Novo Genes

...

Explained in Detail (41:9-10)

41:9

Ask ˹them, O  Prophet˺, “How can you disbelieve in the One Who created the earth in two Days? And how can you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of all worlds.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Say, “Do you really disbelieve in the One who has created the earth in two days, and ascribe to Him partners? That is the Lord of the worlds.

— T. Usmani

Say, "Do you indeed disbelieve in He who created the earth in two days and attribute to Him equals? That is the Lord of the worlds."

— Saheeh International

41:10

He placed on the earth firm mountains, standing high, showered His blessings upon it, and ordained ˹all˺ its means of sustenance—totaling four Days exactly[1]—for all who ask.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

[1] These four Days include the first two, so the total period of creation is six heavenly Days.

He has placed firm mountains in it (the earth) towering above it, and put blessings in it, and proportioned its foods therein, in four days, equal for those who ask.

— T. Usmani

And He placed on it [i.e., the earth] firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures'] sustenance in four days without distinction[1] - for [the information of] those who ask.

— Saheeh International

[1]- Also 'four equal days' or 'four days of completion.'

The Quran explains that Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, the Creator (Khaliq) and the Lord-Sustainer (Rabb) created the earth in two days and the sustenance was determined in four days. Sustenance implies primarily food, which means biological creations, that is the flora and fauna. This totally contradicts and refutes the Theory of Evolution, as all the species and their timing of emergence were determined in these four days. So, where did the code for life come from? Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى created those codes and embedded them in the materials he desired to use for creation of various types of creations. That is all the genes of all the species of flora and fauna were 'DE NOVO' at the time of creation of the Earth.

Recently, scientists are discovering 'DE NOVO Genes' which do not have any ancestral sequences to be based upon. So, they are new codes. They are the beginning of something new. We need to understand that the Creator provides the codes. It is not random, and it doesn't happen by itself. There is a Creator of these codes. We call this creator Allah. Allah is the one and only God. He originated all codes. He is the Perfect Creator who created everything good.

In Surah Ta Ha, Moses (Musa عليه السلام) is quoted thus:

Ta-Ha (20:50)

He answered, “Our Lord is the One Who has given everything its ˹distinctive˺ form, then guided ˹it˺.”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

He (Mūsā) said, “Our Lord is the One who gave everything its due shape, then guided it.”

— T. Usmani

He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]."

— Saheeh International

Moses said, ‘Our Lord is He who gave everything its form, then gave it guidance.’

— M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

 50. [Mûsâ (Moses)] said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright."

— Al-Hilali &Khan

He said: "Our Lord is He1 Who gave everything its form and then guided it."2

— A. Maududi (Tafhim commentary)

[1]That is, we acknowledge Him alone as our Lord in every sense. He is our Sustainer, our Maker, our Master, our Sovereign and is Supreme in everything, and there is no other lord in any sense but Him.

[2]This concise sentence needs serious attention. It means that it is Allah alone Who has created everything and given it its distinctive structure, form, capabilities, characteristics, etc.

He said: Our Lord is He Who gave unto everything its nature, then guided it aright.

— M. Pickthall

He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance."

— A. Yusuf Ali

— Fe Zilal al-Qur'an

— Tafheem e Qur'an - Syed Abu Ali Maududi

— Maulana Muhammad Junagarhi

— Fatah Muhammad Jalandhari

— Shaykh al-Hind Mahmud al-Hasan(with Tafsir E Usmani)

Moosa ne jawab diya “hamara Rubb woh hai jisne har cheez ko uski saakht bakshi(given distinctive form), phir usko raasta bataya”

Much of the research on DE NOVO genes is focused around the fruit fly (D. melanogaster). So, it is interesting when we come across the example of the fly (ذُبَابًۭا) in Surah alHajj:

The Pilgrimage (22:73)

O humanity! A lesson is set forth, so listen to it ˹carefully˺: those ˹idols˺ you invoke besides Allah can never create ˹so much as˺ a fly, even if they ˹all˺ were to come together for that. And if a fly were to snatch anything away from them, they cannot ˹even˺ retrieve it from the fly. How powerless are those who invoke and those invoked![1]

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

[1] Another possible translation: “How weak are the seekers (i.e., the idols) and the sought (i.e., the fly)!”

O people, here is a parable set forth to you, so listen to it carefully: All those whom you invoke besides Allah can never create (even) a fly, even though they all join hands together for that. And if a fly snatches something away from them, they cannot release it from its possession. (Equally) feeble are the invoker and the invoked.

— T. Usmani

O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allāh will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for it [i.e., that purpose]. And if the fly should steal from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued.[1]

— Saheeh International

[1]- A comparison is made here to the worshipper of a false deity and that which he worships.

People, here is an illustration, so listen carefully: those you call on beside God could not, even if they combined all their forces, create a fly, and if a fly took something away from them, they would not be able to retrieve it. How feeble are the petitioners and how feeble are those they petition!

— M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

 73. O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily those on whom you call besides Allâh, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatches away a thing from them, they will have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought.

— Al-Hilali & Khan

O people, a parable is set forth: pay heed to it. Those who call upon aught other than Allah shall never be able to create even a fly, even if all of them were to come together to do that. And if the fly were to snatch away anything from them, they would not be able to recover that from it. Powerless is the supplicant; and powerless is he to whom he supplicates.1

— A. Maududi (Tafhim commentary)

[1]This parable has been cited to impress upon the idolworshipers that their deities are absolutely powerless, for even if they all collaborated to create an insignificant thing like a fly, they could not; nay, even if a fly snatched away anything from them they could not prevent it. This shows how weak they themselves are and how powerless are the idols they supplicate.

O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought!

— M. Pickthall

O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition!

— A. Yusuf Ali

— Fe Zilal al-Qur'an

— Tafheem e Qur'an - Syed Abu Ali Maududi

— Maulana Muhammad Junagarhi

— Fatah Muhammad Jalandhari

— Shaykh al-Hind Mahmud al-Hasan(with Tafsir E Usmani)

Logon, ek misaal di jaati hai, gaur se suno, jin maboodon ko tum khuda ko chodh kar pukarte ho woh sab milkar ek makkhi (fly) bhi paida karna chahein to nahin kar sakte, balke agar makkhi unse koi cheez cheen le jaaye to woh usey chuda bhi nahin sakte. Madad chahne waley bhi kamzoar aur jinse madad chahi jati hai woh bhi kamzoar

— Maulana Wahiduddin Khan

DE NOVO genes, or DE NOVO proteins have been found in human cancer cells. Though the causes and consequences remain undiscovered, it is important to note the fundamental change in the code. Much more research remains to be done before we begin to understand what causes these disease states to happen, and what needs to be done to avoid and eliminate them.

THE CREATOR I and THE CREATORS WE

Say, "He (is) Allah, the One.
Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute.
Not He begets and not He is begotten.
And not is for Him equivalent any [one]."
[Al-Quran 112]

The following excerpt is copied from Human: Body or Soul?

THE CREATOR  I and THE CREATORS WE

Originator (of) the heavens and the earth.
How can be for Him a son while not (there) is for Him a companion,
and He created every thing? And He (is) of every thing All-Knower.
[Al-Quran 6:101

The Quran uses various words to inform us that it is Allah who has conceived, designed, originated, created and increases in creation, governs, sustains; and it is Allah to whom the Kingdom of the heavens and earth belongs. Therefore, Allah is the only Deity (ilah) and He alone is worthy of worship. Everything else is created, and no matter how great a task any created being may be entrusted with, everyone and everything, except Allah, is created and is serving Allah.

2:117 informs us that Allah is

7:54 informs us that اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ

35:1 informs us that الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ

If we look at the usage of these words across the Quran, we find that 'badee' and 'fatara' are used exclusively as the acts of Allah, while 'khalaqa' is used for Allah and other beings. I think 'badee' means Inventor of creation, while 'fatara' means Separator of creation into individual units/beings.

Quran search results:

Moreover, wherever the act of creation is referred to using the root letters [kha-lam-qaf], it seems to imply creating something from something: humans are created from 'teen', jinns are created from 'naar', and probably [kha-lam-qaf] implies and/or allows for creation after a set pattern. Even where Jesus' miraculous ability to create a bird from 'teen' is mentioned, the root [kha-lam-qaf] is used, and it is clearly mentioned that Jesus was able to do so by Allah's permission (Q3:49Q5:110).

I understand that in the grand governance of the heavens and earth, Allah has created some beings with mighty powers and entrusted some of the task of creation [kha-lam-qaf] to them. It seems that they are also entrusted with preparing the scriptures. However, Al-Quran 10:37 clarifies:

And not is this the Quran, that (it could be) produced by other than Allah
but (it is) a confirmation (of that) which (was) before it and a detailed explanation (of) the Book,
(there is) no doubt in it, from (the) Lord (of) the worlds.

So, I infer that the acts of creation, and the preparation and revelation of the scriptures are all done under the instruction, guidance, supervision and control of Allah. Creation belongs to Allah and the scriptures are from Allah for our guidance. Al-Quran 2:252 states:
These (are the) ayaat (of) Allah,
We recite them to you in [the] truth
And indeed, you (are) surely of the Messengers.

Al-Quran 4:163-166 states:
Indeed, We have revealed to you as We revealed to Nuh and the Prophets after him, and We revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail, and Ishaq and Yaqub, and the tribes, and Isa and Ayyub, and Yunus, and Harun and Sulaiman and We gave (to) Dawood the Zaboor.
And Messengers surely We (have) mentioned them to you before and Messengers not We (have) mentioned them to you. And Allah spoke (to) Musa (in a) conversation.
Messengers, bearers of glad tidings and warners, so that not there is for the mankind against Allah any argument after the Messengers. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
But Allah bears witness to what He (has) revealed to you. He has sent it down with His Knowledge and the Angels bear witness. And Allah is sufficient (as) a Witness.

However, that does not make these beings gods, nor do they ask to be taken as 'ilah' instead of Allah. Rather, they reiterate across the Quran that there is only one God (ilah). They do not make themselves known to us by their names or forms. In Al-Quran 37:164-166, they state:

"And not among us except for him (is) a position known.
And indeed, we surely, [we] stand in rows.
And indeed, we surely, [we] glorify (Allah).

As for polytheism, it is stated very clearly in the Quran that those who the polytheists take as their gods are nothing but Jinns (dJinns or genies), and that the Jinns are not the creators, nor do they have any such power or ability to make them worthy of any deification, worship or obedience.

In fact, in the story of Adam, whom Allah created Himself, the Quran is very clear that Adam was honoured because of the knowledge that Allah endowed him with, and those with lesser knowledge were asked to submit/prostrate to Adam. When Iblis was questioned why he didn't obey God, Allah is quoted thus: He said, [Al-Quran 38:75]

"O Iblis! What prevented you that you (should) prostrate to (one) whom I created with My Hands? Are you arrogant or are you of the exalted ones?"

Surah al-Jinn is very clear about the condition of the Jinns, how the secrets of the heavens are protected and they prevented from it, and that whenever Allah sends any message through a chosen messenger, Allah ensures that the messenger and the messages are well-guarded, protected, brought and delivered.

And Allah knows best.

Allah, fāṭir (فَاطِر) of the Skies and Earth

Mission of the Messengers – XXIII

Abstract
In its command to adhere to the right religion, Q30:30 uses the term fitrat-Allah (فِطْرَتَ اللَّهِ) on which humans have been فَطَرَ. The Quran uses the term fāṭir (فَاطِر)  as one of the acts of Allah. This study attempts to understand its meaning through the words its root alphabets fā ṭā rā (ف ط ر) are used in The Quran.

Learning: Fatir means The Separator, the One who separates the primal matter to be used to build each and every creation, and maintains their unique identity, such that even when they are mixed up, He is able to separate them again. The One Who has separated everything into individual units, and has commanded: No change (should there be) in the creation (of) Allah.

Full Text

So set your face to the لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا
فِطْرَتَ (made by) Allah (upon) which He has فَطَرَ mankind [on it].
No change (should there be) in the creation (of) Allah.
That (is) الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ, but most people (do) not know.
[Al-Quran 30:30]

Q30:30 contains a direct command prohibiting change in Allah' creation, and informs that it is the right religion. It also uses the unique term فِطْرَتَ اللَّهِ , which occurs in this noun form only once in The Quran. Scholars translate this term very vaguely. The lack of clarity renders the rest of the ayah ineffective in terms of the practical application of this command. The Quran uses the term fāṭir (فَاطِر)  as one of the steps in the act of creation by Allah. This study attempts to understand its meaning through the words its root alphabets fā ṭā rā (ف ط ر) are used in.

In The Quran
The triliteral root fā ṭā rā (ف ط ر) occurs 20 times in the Quran, in six derived forms:
10 times as the form I verb faṭara (فَطَرَ)
once as the form VII verb infaṭarat (ٱنفَطَرَتْ)
once as the noun fiṭ'rat (فِطْرَت)
once as the noun fuṭūr (فُطُور)
six times as the active participle fāṭir (فَاطِر)
once as the form VII active participle munfaṭir (مُنفَطِر)

In Lane's Lexicon
The following shades of meaning are associated with the root fā ṭā rā (ف ط ر) in Lane's Lexicon on pages 2415-2417:
to separate; to prepare hurriedly or immaturely;
neither good nor bad; cracking or chapping; break forth; ...

And they say, "Is it when we are bones and crumbled particles, will we surely (be) resurrected (as) a creation new."
Say, "Be stones or iron.
Or a creation of what (is) great in your breasts." Then they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He Who فَطَرَ you (the) first time." Then they will shake at you their heads and they say, "When (will) it (be)?" Say, "Perhaps that (it) will be soon."
(On) the Day He will call you and you will respond with His Praise, and you will think, not you had remained except a little (while).
[Al-Quran 17:49-52]

Related Post: This ayat specifically mentions stones and iron. According to the Theory of Stellar Evolution, the end stage of a massive star’s life is when silicon is burnt into iron. Beyond this, according to the theory, no further burning is possible. More on this in Setting of the Stars

Q17:49-52 states that no matter what state we may perish and decompose into after death, Allah will resurrect as he فَطَرَ us before.

فَطَرَ is always mentioned as a singular, exclusive act of Allah.

In Surah Qaaf, we read a similar mention of separation and reconstitution of what we are composed of:

Qaf. By the Quran, the Glorious.
Nay, they wonder that has come to them a warner from them. So say the disbelievers, "This (is) a thing amazing.
What! When we die and have become dust. That (is) a return far."
Certainly, We know what diminishes the earth of them, and with Us (is) a Book guarded.
...
(The) Day will split the earth from them, hurrying. That (is) a gathering for Us easy.
[Al-Quran 50:1-4 ... 50:44

Note: Since the Gatherers are in the plural We, therefore, as expected, the term فَطَرَ is not used here.
However, note that again the material separation is being highlighted through the statement 'will split the earth from them'

In Surah al-Anaam, Prophet Abraham uses the term فَطَرَ to explain his declaration that he is not a polytheist:

And thus We show(ed) Ibrahim the kingdom (of) the heavens and the earth, so that he would be among the ones who are certain.
So when covered over him the night, he saw a planet. He said, "This (is) my Lord." But when it set, he said "I (do) not like the ones that set."
When he saw the moon rising he said, "This (is) my Lord." But when it set he said, "If (does) not guide me my Lord, I will surely be among the people who went astray."
When he saw the sun rising he said, "This (is) my Lord, this (is) greater." But when it set, he said, "O my people! Indeed, I am free of what you associate (with Allah)."
Indeed, I [I] have turned my face to the One Who فَطَرَ the heavens and the earth (as) a true monotheist, and not I (am) of the polytheists.
[Al-Quran 6:75-79

Q6:75 quoted above informs us that Abraham was being shown the kingdom of the heavens and earth. Q33:7 informs us of the ratification of the covenant taken from the prophets. In Surah al-Anbiya, Prophet Abraham even bears witness to the One who فَطَرَ the heavens and earth:

He said, "Nay, your Lord (is the) Lord (of) the heavens and the earth, the One Who فَطَرَ them and I am to that of the witnesses.
[Al-Quran 21:56

The Heavens and the Earth are composed of a variety of galaxies, stars, planets and other bodies, each a separate, unique unit and floating in its own orbit. Q13:2 & Q31:10 draw attention to the fact that the Heaven has been raised without pillars!

Q30:30 begins with the directive to turn our faces to لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا . In Q6:79 quoted above, Prophet Abraham also declares being a hanif, variously translated as: monotheist, upright, firmly and truly, pure natural believer, and so forth. In Surah az-Zukhruf, Prophet Abraham dissociates himself from the worship of everyone except the One who فَطَرَ  him:

Except the One Who فَطَرَ me; and indeed, He will guide me."
And he made it a word lasting among his descendents, so that they may return.
[Al-Quran 43:27-28

|----------|

In Surah Hud, when Prophet Hud was preaching Monotheism to his people, he tells them:

O my people! Not I ask you for it any reward. Not (is) my reward except from the One Who فَطَرَ me. Then will not you use reason?
[Al-Quran 11:51

|----------|

In Surah Yasin, the man who believed the Messengers, exhorts the people to follow those who do not ask for any reward, and poses the question:

And what (is) for me (that) not I worship the One Who فَطَرَ me and to Whom you will be returned?
[Al-Quran 36:22

The Quran relates a public show of strength between the most skilled magicians in Ancient Egypt and Prophet Moses. When Moses' staff (stick) turned into a serpent and devoured the magicians' ropes and staffs, which appeared as snakes due to the optical illusion caused by their magic, those magicians immediately submitted to Allah, the Lord of Moses and Aaron. The Pharaoh, whom they previously held as their lord, threatened them with crucifixion for changing their faith. Those expert magicians responded thus:

They said, "Never we will prefer you over what has come to us of the clear proofs, and the One Who فَطَرَ us. So decree whatever you (are) decreeing. Only you can decree (for) this life (of) the world.
[Al-Quran 20:72]

In Surah Maryam, associating a son with Allah is denounced sternly, and the same root فَطَّرْ is used, translated here as torn

And they say, "Has taken the Most Gracious a son."
Verily, you have put forth a thing atrocious.
Almost the heavens get torn therefrom, and splits asunder the earth and collapse the mountain (in) devastation
That they invoke to the Most Gracious a son.
And not is appropriate for the Most Gracious that He should take a son.
Not all who (are) in the heavens and the earth but (will) come (to) the Most Gracious (as) a slave.
Verily, He has enumerated them and counted them, a counting.
And all of them (will) come (to) Him (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection alone.
[Al-Quran 19:88-95

|----------|

Surah ash-Shura also employs the exact same word, translated here as break

Almost the heavens break up from above them, and the Angels glorify (the) praise (of) their Lord and ask for forgiveness for those on the earth. Unquestionably, indeed, Allah, He (is) the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
[Al-Quran 42:5

|----------||----------|

Munfaṭir (مُنفَطِر)
In Surah al-Muzamil, the active participle form of the verb declares:

The heaven (will) break apart therefrom, is His Promise to be fulfilled.
[Al-Quran 73:18]

|----------||----------|

Infaṭarat (ٱنفَطَرَتْ)
In Surah al-Infitar, the verb form is similarly used, and translated here as cleft asunder

When the sky (is) cleft asunder
[Al-Quran 82:1

|----------||----------|

Fuṭūr (فُطُور)
Surah al-Mulk draws our attention to the absence of any flaws / rifts / cracks /breaks:

The One Who created seven heavens one above another. Not you see in (the) creation (of) the Most Gracious any fault. So return the vision, can you see any flaw?
Then return the vision twice (again). Will return to you the vision humbled while it (is) fatigued.
[Al-Quran 67:3-4]

Fāṭir (فَاطِر
Six ayaat in The Quran introduce Allah as the fāṭir of the Skies/Heavens and Earth. This step of creation is mentioned specifically and exclusively about Allah only. These ayaat also inform us of some qualities of the Fatir:

Note: In the following translations, while retaining the Arabic word فَاطِرِ, I'm also adding the translation as Separator:

Say, "Is it other than Allah I (should) take (as) a protectorفَاطِرِ (Separator) (of) the heavens and the earth, while (it is) He Who feeds and not He is fed?" Say, "Indeed I [I] am commanded that I be (the) first who submits (to Allah) and not be of the polytheists."
[Al-Quran 6:14]

Quality #1 Protector
Quality #2 He Who feeds and not He is fed

Learning: The One Who has separated everything into individual units also protects and feeds each unit!
|----------|

My Lord, indeed, you have given me of the sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of the eventsفَاطِرَ (Separator) (of) the heavens and the earth, You (are) my Protector, in the world and the Hereafter. Cause me to die (as) a Muslim, and join me with the righteous."
[Al-Quran 12:101]

Quality #3 Grants sovereignity
Quality #4 Teaches interpretation of events

Quality #1 repeated: Protector, in the world and the Hereafter

Quality #5 Causes to die
Quality #6 Joins / will join (segregate in the Hereafter)

Learning: The One Who has separated everything into individual units also protects and will rejoin in the Hereafter

|----------|

Said their Messengers, "Can (there) be about Allah any doubt, (the) فَاطِرِ (Separator) (of) the heavens and the earth? He invites you, so that He may forgive for you [of] your sins, and give you for a term appointed." They said, "Not you (are) but a human like us, you wish to hinder us from what used to worship our forefathers. So bring us an authority clear."
[Al-Quran 14:10]

Quality #7 Forgiver
Quality #8 Grants more time / Delays till a term appointed

Learning: The One Who has separated everything into individual units invites to forgiveness and grants a limited length of time to avail the amnesty

|----------|

All praises (be) to Allah, فَاطِرِ (Separator) (of) the heavens and the earth, (Who) makes the Angels messengers having wings two or three or four. He increases in the creation what He wills. Indeed, Allah (is) on every thing All-Powerful.

Say, "O Allah! (Separator) (of) the heavens and the earth, Knower (of) the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between Your slaves in what they used to therein differ."
[Al-Quran 39:46]

|----------|

(The) فَاطِرُ (Separator) (of) the heavens and the earth. He made for you from your nafs, mates, and among the cattle mates; He multiplies you thereby. (There) is not like Him anything, and (is) the All-Hearer, the All-Seer
[Al-Quran 42:11]

Quality #14 Made/appointed mating pairs from the nafs: for you from yours, for cattle from theirs; the mechanism through which He multiplies His creation
Quality #15 There is not like Him anything
Quality #16 All-Hearer
Quality #17 All-Seer

Learning: The One Who has separated everything into individual units continues to create individual units, multiplying creation thereby. Our spouses and our children are a clear example of how the Fatir separates, joins and multiplies thereby!

Steps in The Act of Creation
The Quran employs various words to convey the various steps in the act of creation:
  • بَدِيعُ in Q2:117 and Q6:101, both exclusively for Allah
  • فَاطِرُ also exclusively for Allah, as evident from the ayaat quoted above
  • خَالِقُ for Allah, creator of all things in Q39:62; and for other creators, as in Q23:14
There is an entire surah titled Fatir (فَاطِرُ). Badi (بَدِيعُ) and Khaliq (خَالِقُ) are also generally translated Creator, but Badi is one who originates or begins something new, innovates, while Khaliq is one who, if I have studied its usage in the Qur’an correctly, creates with some pre-exiting material, such as humans from teen, jinn from naar, ...  So, most probably, the following may be assumed:
The Inventor, the One who initiates the process of creation or creates new things for the very first time, creates the originals
  • فَاطِرُ : The Separator, the One who separates the primal matter to be used to build each and every creation, and maintains their unique identity, such that even when they are mixed up, He is able to separate them again
The Creator: the one who uses the materials to create the hardware and software
The Maker: the one who assigns tasks
From the fā ṭā rā (ف ط ر) ayaat quoted above, it seems quite clear that what this word implies is:

  • separation or breaking up of the proto-matter into unique parts, such that no matter what form of matter they may assume, essentially the proto-matter (or fundamental particle or string) is marked out as unique to each individual creation.
  • keeping each unique object separate
  • maintaining the Heavens and Earth apart such that they do not collapse upon each other in a heap

From Surah al-Fussilat (Explained in Detail), we learn that:

Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly." They said: "We do come (together), in willing obedience."
So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.
[Al-Quran 41:11-12, Translator: Yusuf Ali]

So, early on in the process of creation, the earth and the skies were created separately, and then united into a primordial smoke (suspended particles) before being separated again. Then Allah separated them and decreed the natural laws which they are required to obey and be governed by.

The unification into a primordial smoke seems to endorse the Grand Unification Epoch in the Grand Unified Theory when all the fundamental forces were not distinct yet.

The primordial smoke being separated ties in with the concept of fundamental particles or strings, and their being organised into various forms, as posited by the various theories of physics.

The separation into seven skies/heavens seems to tie in with the concept of the multiverse; with the difference that according to The Quran the seven skies/heavens are arranged in concentric layers (Q67:3).

The assignment to each sky/heaven its duties and command seems to tie in with the concept of various dimensions, each with its own set of natural laws.

The Quran also informs us that when Allah creates, He speaks His commands, and it comes into existence:

Only His Command when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is
[Al-Quran 36:82

String Theory postulates that the Universe is a symphony, composed of vibrating strings (the most fundamental one-dimensional objects, as opposed to point-like particles).

In Surah Fatir (فَاطِر), we learn that all of creation is being upheld in order by Allah alone:

Say, "Have you seen your partners those whom you call besides Allah?" Show Me what they have created from the earth, or for them (is) a share in the heavens. Or have We given them a Book so they (are) on a clear proof therefrom? Nay, not promise the wrongdoers some of them (to) others except delusion.
Indeed, Allah upholds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease, not can uphold them any one after Him.
Indeed, He is Most Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving.
[Al-Quran 35:40-41

The earth and skies are then indeed a manifestation of Allah's words, through which He brings everything into being, and maintains everything on a constant, continuous basis! And the entire creation responds with the praise of Allah:

Glorified is He and Exalted is He above what they say (by) height great.
Glorify [to] Him the seven heavens and the earth and whatever (is) in them. And (there is) not any thing except glorifies His Praise, but not you understand their glorification.
Indeed, He is Ever-Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving."
[Al-Quran 17:43-44]

Ayat-ul-Kursi (The Ayah of The Government)
A king governs his kingdom. The extent of the kingdom is the regions where the king is the sovereign:

Allah - there is no deity except
Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence.
Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills.
His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not.
And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
[Al-Quran 2:255, Translator: Sahih International]

Yet, in this temporal life, Allah grants us the liberty to choose. He does not impose His DEEN on any one who is unwilling to submit to Allah. However, the consequence of not willingly submitting is made quite clear:

(There is) no compulsion in the religion.
Surely has become distinct the right (path) from the wrong.
Then whoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah, then surely he grasped the handhold - [the] firm, (which) not (will) break [for it].
And Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Allah (is the) Protecting Guardian (of) those who believe[d]. He brings them out from [the] darkness towards [the] light.
And those who disbelieve(d) their guardians (are) the evil ones, they bring them out from the light towards [the] darkness. Those (are the) companions (of) the Fire, they in it will abide forever.
[Al-Quran 2:256 - 257]

Corruption: Causes & Consequences
Q4:1, Q6:98 and Q7:189 inform us that we have been created from a single nafs. Q42:11 informs us that Allah, our Fatir, has appointed mates from our nafs, and multiplies us thereby. Revisiting Q30:30 quoted at the beginning of this post and editing the translation:

So set your face to the لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا
فِطْرَتَ (made by) Allah (upon) which He has فَطَرَ mankind [on it].
The separation done by Allah as He has separated Humans on

No change (should there be) in the creation (of) Allah.

That (is) الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ, but most people (do) not know.
[Al-Quran 30:30]

Surah ar-Rum (Q30:30) warns us not to make changes in the creation of Allah: The surah goes on to inform us why we see corruption on earth in spite of Allah constantly guarding (Q2:255) and upholding (Q35:41), and why both Q17:44 and Q35:41inform us that Allah is Ever-Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving

Has appeared the corruption in the land and the sea for what have earned (the) hands (of) people, so that He may let them taste a part (of) that which they have done so that they may return.
Say, "Travel in the earth and see how was (the) end (of) those who (were) before. Most of them were polytheists."
So set your face to the religion right, before [that] comes a Day not (can be) averted [it] from Allah. That Day, they will be divided.
Whoever disbelieves, then against him (is) his disbelief. And whoever does righteousness, then for themselves they are preparing,
[Al-Quran 30:41-44]

The last ayat of Surah Fatir (فَاطِر), states that:

And if Allah (were to) punish the people for what they have earned, not He would leave on its back any creature.
But He gives them till a term appointed.
And when comes their term, then indeed, Allah is of His slaves All-Seer.
[Al-Quran 35:45]

Surah Ibrahim concludes thus:

And (do) not think (that) Allah (is) unaware of what do the wrongdoers. Only He gives them to a Day will stare in it the eyes.
Racing ahead, raised up their heads, not returning towards them their gaze, and their hearts (are) empty.
And warn the mankind (of) a Day (when) will come to them the punishment, then will say those who did wrong, "Our Lord! Respite us for a term short; we will answer Your call and we will follow the Messengers." "Had not you sworn before not for you any end?
And you dwelt in the dwellings (of) those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them, and We put forth for you the examples."
And indeed they planned their plan, but with Allah (was) their plan, even if was their plan that should be moved by it the mountains.
So (do) not think (that) Allah will fail (to) keep His Promise (to) His Messengers. Indeed, Allah (is) All-Mighty, Owner (of) Retribution.
(On the) Day will be changed the earth (to) other (than) the earth, and the heavens, and they will come forth before Allah, the One, the Irresistible.
And you will see the criminals, (on) that Day bound together in the chains,
Their garments of tar, and will cover their faces the Fire.
So that Allah may recompense each soul (for) what it earned. Indeed, Allah (is) Swift (in) the reckoning.
This (is) a Message for the mankind, that they may be warned with it, and that they may know that only He (is) One God, and that may take heed men (of) understanding.
[Al-Quran 14:42-52]

The Quran explains creation, and promises an annihilation and a recreation; it presents vital lessons from our world history and its future implications. It warns us against wronging our nafs, lest we lose it forever. We need to understand the true, the correct, the right religion (الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ) and how to keep our duty, so as to be able to earn Allah's forgiveness and a blissful eternal future. List of Related Posts
