[Al-Quran 50:6-8] Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and how it has no rifts? And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind, Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah].

The Watery Realm & The Appearance of Dry Land

 ...

The Beginning

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The First Day: Light

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

The Second Day: Firmament

6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The Third Day: Dry Ground

9And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. ...

[The Bible, Genesis 1 1-10, Translation: KJV]

The Torah (The Old Testament) begins with the Creation story. It describes the darkness upon the face (وَجْهِ) of the deep (الْغَمْرِ), the watery realm, the illumination, naming it the Day (نَهَارا), and naming the darkness Night (لَيْلا); the beginning of Evening (مَسَاءٌ) and Morning (صَبَاحٌ), the first Day (يَوْما وَاحِدا). Then, the separation of the waters into sky and ocean, the appearance of the dry land, ...

The Exodus, the parting of the sea to make dry land appear, is one of the most wondrous events in The Torah. This was an event that was witnessed and experienced by all the Bani Israel who crossed it along with Moses (Musa عليه السلام), and also witnessed and experienced by the Pharaoh and his forces who were drowned in the same sea when the walls of water came crashing down upon them.

Another famous water story common to all world mythologies is the Deluge or Flood. The Torah and The Quran also endorse it. It is when Allah ﷻ opened the waters of the sky to fall upon Earth, the waters of the sky and earth met, and submerged all who disbelieved Noah (Nuh عليه السلام).

Surah Fatir (Separator) states:

Verily! Allâh grasps the heavens and the earth lest they should move away from their places, and if they were to move away from their places, there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Truly, He is Ever Most Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving.

[Al-Quran 35:41, Translator: Al-Hilali & Khan]

The Quran, Surah an-Naziat, draws attention towards the creation of the sky:

Which is harder to create: you people or the sky that He built,

raising it high and perfecting it,

giving darkness to its night and bringing out its morning brightness,

and the earth, too, He spread out,

[Al-Quran 79:27-30; Translation: M.A.S. Abdel Haleem]

In the beginning, there was darkness even on the surface of water. Allah عزوجل granted light to illuminate the surface of the water. He also created the sun, moon, and stars, on the fourth day, to illuminate it further. So, day and night, there is some form of illumination on the surface of the Earth's waters. However, the deeper one goes, the darker it gets. The oceans of the Earth have various levels of illumination, till it gets so dark that one can hardly see his stretched out hand. And the ocean is much deeper than that.

Or ˹their deeds are˺ like the darkness in a deep sea, covered by waves upon waves, topped by ˹dark˺ clouds. Darkness upon darkness! If one stretches out their hand, they can hardly see it. And whoever Allah does not bless with light will have no light!

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allāh has not granted light - for him there is no light.

— Saheeh International

Or (their deeds) are like layers of darkness in a vast deep sea overwhelmed by a wave, above which there is another wave, above which there are clouds - layers of darkness, one above the other. When one puts forth his hand, he can hardly see it; and the one to whom Allah does not give light can have no light at all.

— T. Usmani

Or as darkness on a vast, abysmal sea. There covereth him a wave, above which is a wave, above which is a cloud. Layer upon layer of darkness. When he holdeth out his hand he scarce can see it. And he for whom Allah hath not appointed light, for him there is no light.

— M. Pickthall

Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!

— A. Yusuf Ali

Or [the state of a disbeliever] is like the darkness in a vast deep sea, overwhelmed with waves topped by waves, topped by dark clouds, (layers of) darkness upon darkness: if a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it! And he for whom Allâh has not appointed light, for him there is no light.

Northern lights, known as Aurora Borealis, is a spectacle of colours which appear as curtains of light, like when a movie ends and curtains close on the stage ... they appear as faint whitish or greenish, growing stronger and redder, and then fading back. The night sky becomes colourful. At the zenith (directly overhead, top of the sky), there appears a swirl of lights, taking on various shapes. It is a dome of lights radiating all around the sky. A vortex of fluid colours.

The colours are caused by ionisation of gases in the Earth's atmosphere as it experiences a geomagnetic storm. Scientists link it to solar activity, such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections. The Earth is naturally protected by its magnetic field which forms an invisible shield around it. As the atmosphere is hit by a solar wind, these incoming winds ionise the gases in the atmosphere. Different gases give off different lights. Regions near the Earth's magnetic poles are able to witness this spectacular display of dancing colours, fluidly moving across the sky.

The Sun, a creation of Allah, is throwing charged particles, and we are constantly being protected from it. The damage that is being done by it, in the atmosphere, is visible in colours. Now, consider what Surah ar-Rahman mentions about a future event:

And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil -

— Saheeh International

When the sky is rent asunder, and it becomes red like ointment:

— A. Yusuf Ali

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

— Saheeh International

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

— A. Yusuf Ali

[Al-Quran 55:37-38]

In Surah an-Nazi'at, we read a series of abstract statements:

By the forceful chargers

raring to go,

sweeping ahead at full stretch,

overtaking swiftly

to bring the matter to an end,

on the Day when the blast reverberates

and the second blast follows,

hearts will tremble

and eyes will be downcast.

They say, ‘What? shall we be brought back to life,

after we have turned into decayed bones?’ and they say,

‘Such a return is impossible!’

But all it will take is a single blast,

and they will be back above ground.

[Al-Quran 79:1-14; Translation: M.A.S. Abdel Haleem]

Imagine when Allah splits the sky open and all havoc is let lose upon the Earth. Then, what will be the state of the sky, and who will protect those on Earth from it?

From ancient times till today, sun-worship has been going on. The ancient Egyptians worshipped the Sun, and the modern Japanese people worship the sun. They both believe that their king is a descendant of the Sun. So, it is not out of place that in Surah an-Nazi'at we are informed about the Pharaoh declaring himself as the supreme god, and then being punished for his audacious false claim [Q79:15-26].

Immediately after that, attention is drawn towards the sky:

Which is harder to create: you people or the sky that He built,

raising it high and perfecting it,

giving darkness to its night and bringing out its morning brightness,

and the earth, too, He spread out,

[Al-Quran 79:27-30; Translation: M.A.S. Abdel Haleem]

We have been given a lifetime of free-will and guidance to choose for ourselves how we want to be recompensed, where we would like to spend our eternity, before the overwhelming event arrives. That will be the Day of Recompense.

Thus, Surah an-Nazi'at concludes:

They ask you [Prophet] about the Hour,

saying, ‘When will it arrive?’, but how can you tell [them that]?

Its time is known only to your Lord;

you are only sent to warn those who fear it.

On the Day they see it, it will seem they lingered [in this life] an evening [at most,] or its morning.

[Al-Quran 79:42-46; Translation: M.A.S. Abdel Haleem]

Subah Kazib

It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are a clothing for you and you are a clothing for them. Allāh knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allāh has decreed for you [i.e., offspring]. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the night [i.e., sunset]. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [set by] Allāh, so do not approach them. Thus does Allāh make clear His verses [i.e., ordinances] to the people that they may become righteous.

[Al-Quran 2:187, Translation: Saheeh International]

The Dawn (الۡفَجۡرِ) is the time which commences the Day (Morning prayer time) for Muslims.

Subah-e-Sadiq (The True Dawn) is a horizontal white thread that appears in the sky every morning at dawn. This ushers in the brightness of the Day, dispelling the darkness of the Night.

On the contrary, there is an astronomical phenomenon known to Muslims as Subah-e-Kazib (The Lying Morning). It is a vertical streak of light, like a fox's tail, and on both its side is darkness. It does not usher in the Day.

As explained here:

The following is a photo of a vertical streak of light taken around midnight during an aurora sighting:

Canada, August 12, 2024, 12:15am

Muslims and Jews begin the Day in the evening, while for Christians, Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt (now known as Civil time) the date changes at midnight.

Sun-worship, speaking animals, high-technology are among the topics dealt with in Surah an-Naml in The Quran.

Surah an-Naml begins with the mention of Moses (Musa عليه السلام) and the Pharaoh, and then David (Daud عليه السلام) and Solomon (Sulaiman عليه السلام), who were granted the ability speak with animals. It mentions the Sun-worshipping people of the country Saba (Sheba). It was a flourishing civilisation who had been given from everything. At the same time, the Allah-worshipping kingdom of Solomon also flourished, and they had also been given from everything. The Queen of Saba admits that they had been wronging their nafs by worshipping the Sun. Then, it also mentions the corrupt Thamud who tried to kill their Messenger of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ . The homosexual people to whom Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ sent Lot (Lut عليه السلام) are mentioned. A series of questions follow establishing Allah alone as the only Deity, only One worthy of worship. Moreover, deep within the darkness of the Earth is a creature that will be revealed near end-times, a creature that will speak with humans, because the people did not believe.

In the modern world, countries with high-technology are also seeing a rise in secularism, women-empowerment, liberalism, homosexuality, worship of mythological entities, while overt and covert Sun-worship also persists. Civil time and the solar calendar is in use worldwide.

So, the surah concludes:

And say [(O Muhammad SAW) to these polytheists and pagans etc.]: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah. He will show you His Ayat (signs, in yourselves, and in the universe or punishments, etc.), and you shall recognise them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."

[Al-Quran, Surah an-Naml, Ayat 93; Translation: Mohsin Khan]
